Anyone want to do a mashup Youtube video? It could be all us Vj'ers reading the letter. You know, one of those vids with very moving music playing in the background, as the video cuts from Vj'er to VJ'er explaining the sad state of affairs with our petitions. I would volunteer to read a section, assemble all other pieces, and if anyone could create or provide the music, that would be good. I've got some experience with Cyberlink PowerDirector, though I will be the first to admit that I am not professionally trained in the art of video production. Such a video could really help the US Citizen Green Card Petitioners' Committee page get a lot of hits, and maybe a lot of petition signatures, if we go that route.

Id like to be in that video! Lol :P i think this is a great idea. I dont know anything bout video prod though..

Just joined and read the thread here, really great stuff. I will be sending the letter to my "elected" officials, as well. I would also volunteer to help out any way I can, although I am not very technologically educated, I could easily do some research or read part of the letter, or whatever is needed of me. The government is breaking the law (as usual) and this is an opportunity for us to try to do something about it.

Read this thread and see what some people think about the I-130 backlog.

They think it's ok and justified because a lot of people ( DACA filers and provisional waivers ) benefited from it.

How does it make it OK? I am not against DACA. But our petitions should be important too. And they aren't. At all.

This is just so wrong on so many levels.

I thought we were waiting for the right time to make a coordinated effort. Only then would the campaign begin. I thought we would wait until the timing is right. Have I missed the boat?

I'm planning on sending it off to Senators Mark Kirk and ####### Durbin, and also to my congresswoman, Tammy Duckworth. For good measure, I'll include the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, and Daily Herald.

Love the idea!

Now, how do we do this? Let's get on it!

We need many volunteers, to demonstrate our numbers. We must have at least 20 so that when I stitch it together, each section is fairly short, but no single volunteer appears twice. So far, it appears we have 3 volunteers. I'll get my spouse to do her part as well. We need more!

This is good. This puts faces to our cause. We want to show that we're husbands, wives, sons, and daughters. We're families that are separated by distance and living across various time zones. Some of us just want to just return home together as family. Others are families that just want to be reunited. All it takes to make a video is a webcam, digital camera, or even just a camera on a cellphone. I can cut and stitch the parts together and add some moving background music so that viewers empathize with our cause.

We need more volunteers!

I am a May i-130 filer, also dismayed and shocked about the service from USCIS. I want to do everything I can to get my husband here with me as soon as possible. Like so many people, we are losing hope (and money--my husband had to quit his job in anticipation of a move) day by day.

Let's get active, people! I would be willing to be part of a video, draft, sign and send petitions, anything to try to institute some kind of change. It is INSANE to make people wait so long to be with their loved ones.

Let me know what I can do to help the cause o(- 0-)o!

I am going to send more letters out the PA and VT senators in the next couple days as the government reopens. I really think being vocal enough, and getting enough of the right people on our side would turn things around, maybe instantly. I trust VJ community power!

We need a good script, too smile.png

I have a draft, but it kind of sucks. I need to put more thought into it. I am willing to share the gist of it:

1. It starts out with a single speaker briefly explaining our important message.

2. In the second section, the mashup begins: various speakers will very briefly explain their situation: I am a wife, husband, child, children. We are a family.

These snippets would be assembled in a way to attach faces to our cause.

3. In the third section, it transitions back to a single speaker who explains in very simple terms what USCIS has done to us.

4. In the fourth section, a speaker explains that even the K-3 visa, which was meant to reunite families quickly, is no longer of any use.

5. In section 5, another mashup, we explain what we're asking for - to be reunited with our families in timely manner.

6. In section 6 a single speaker explain that we chose the legal route, and we're being punished by long waiting times.

7. Finally we tell the viewer how to help: just click the link to view our committee page to increase the hits! If they want to take on a more active role, then great! We may attract other petitioners who have never heard of VJ, and didn't realize that such a community exists.

I think it would be best to keep it under three minutes, or maybe even two. Any longer than that, and the audience will likely find something else more entertaining.

Still looking for the right background music. Please share your ideas, but of course we don't want to violate DMCA.

Okay, I just realized a horrible flaw with my plan. Section one must be a mashup, so that the viewer gets the feeling that the message is simultaneously being read by all of those faces they saw at the beginning.
