I would add one additional proviso: Legislative districts will be drawn so that they all contain the same number of people. Period. No gerrymandering to ensure a safe seat. "These monkeys" have already taken control of OUR government, by gerrymandered legislative districts. Most of Congress is in safe seats and fear primary challenges from their own party more than facing the voters in the general election.

That measure alone would solve most of the issues. Gridlock and continuously kicking the can down the road would be all but history if representatives would have to stand up to a constituency in non-gerrymandered districts. The Tea Party would have been a one Congress affair - if that.

I think, absolutely, that all people should have exactly the same rights. I am also inherently familiar with something called systematic racism. I am also inherently familiar with the fact that a woman makes 80 cents for every dollar a man makes and that that percentage drops if that woman is a person of colour. I am also inherently familiar with the systematic oppression of peaceful religions by a majority who sticks their fingers in their ears in order to keep saying that religion is evil.

I am VERY familiar with the fact that, when it comes to G, the phrasing used in the OP is used as a bait and switch tactic to remove protected classes and therefore effectively removing rights from individuals.

OK..You are ok with one group of people that only have race in common, being given special rights and considerations not given to other groups.

But we still demand a color blind society

That makes my head want to explode it is so illogical

Treat us the same...No treat us different....Not he same for this..but different for that. I demand to be treated equally...except for that I want my preferential treatment

The real problem is that people in power care more about themselves and their paychecks than they do about the people they are supposed to "serve".

The tea party is far from dead. By your post made here on Visa Journey you make it clear you fear them the most. You see them as standing in the way of your socialist agenda for America. They will not roll over .

I can agree except with G.

All Americans ARE equal under the law, however they are not all TREATED equal under the law. Until everyone is treated the same, we can not abolish laws that protect people against people who would like to treat them unfairly.

Again, you still have people who want to treat people differently based off of race, religion and sexual orientation. Without these laws to protect these groups of people they are screwed.

If you do not like the laws, get out and do something about it. March next to a black person who wants to be treated equally. Stand next to a Lesbian who wants to marry her lover. Stand next to a Muslim who doesn't want to be called an extremist when he is not.

Once you do these things and encourage others to do so as well, and we see conditions improve, then we can abolish these laws. But assuming you are a white male, these things are of no concern to you because you do not have to walk around with black skin, or a head scarf on everyday, you do not understand what it is like.
