Hello VJ friends,

On Sept. 11, I received my employment authorization card... I was so happy!

I went to renew my driving license and they said I need to change my name in the social security administration office first, allow 24 hrs and then go back.

I went to the social security administration office and they tried to change my name, but USCIS haven't updated the system and they have to wait (they sent a request of verification), I don't really understand what is going on, and I am just wondering how long more its going to take?, It's been over a month since they sent the request of verification, now I bet the problem with the SSA is the government shutdown -_-

Does anybody had problems to get their name verified or changing their name?

What else should I expect?, how soon is this going to be solve?

Thank you!

I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

ya, DHS Verification at the SSA office is abysmal - but the SSA office IS OPEN and yer category of thing to do, I think, can be done/checked on at the local office.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank ya'll for your response.

I am in Mississippi, so we don't have local USCIS offices here in the State, the closest one is in New Orleans...

Do you think I shouldn't worry about and let them send me a new social security card when they verify my name and status or shall I schedule an INFOPASS?

Thanks

USCIS doesn't do DHS verification - there's another DHS office that does that.

However, I not write of a local USCIS office, I wrote of local SSA office. Really, you should get back to the office where you applied, see what's up, as someone has dropped the ball there, IMO.

Thank you for the response, I am very patience, I just needed to know if something else should be done. By the way, it's already a month....

but again, you are right, nothing will be done until the government re-open.
