grandma lost noa2 of my aunty (f1 category pd aug 9 1993),, and they forgot her receipt number how can we request for copy of noa2 at uscis if it says

"Special Instructions :

Be sure to fill in your receipt number on Form I-824, in Part 3, Additional Information, question 1."

her case is now at nvc.. she needs to submit it..

IMO, if it's at NVC, then NVC knows that receipt #. Anything received from NVC SHOULD HAVE the consular casefile # on it, so call into NVC, give over the MNL #, ask for the USCIS receipt number.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

sorry, i not read of you needing the NOA-2, just needing the USCIS receipt #. Do you need the NOA-2, or no ?

Here's the bit that trips me up. An I-824 moves a casefile from USCIS/NBC into NVC. You've mentioned NVC already has the casefile, so (IMO) the I-824 isn't needed. Since you're thread-hijaaking in the wrong sub-forum, you really should find the right sub-forum and do more research.

my auntie's original noa2 (beneficiary under f1 category) was lost by my grandmother who is a US citizen , they do not have copies of noa2 so they do not have receipt number they cant remember it cos it was filed more than 15 years ago,, but NVC wrote them this year since their pd is current for f1 category... my uncle in US is asking for noa2 of my aunty cos he will help in processing it he will send it to NVC,, (do they need copy of noa2 to submit to nVC as one of requirements and also at consular processing at the time of interview?) this thread's title is

Lost original noa2, what do I do?

you should shift to a different sub-forum, yer posting in the wrong place. The NOA-2 is required when filing an adjustment of status case, when adjusting from a K-1 visa type.

Instead, yer chasing an immigrant visa and yer posting in the wrong sub-forum. Need the receipt #? Reread my reply to you.

Topic has been moved from the AOS from a family based visa forum to Bringing Family Members of Permanent Residents to the US forum as a more appropriate location for this discussion. It is unclear whether the sponsor is a US citizen or a PR, so topic may move again.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Where is that letter that NVC sent? THAT may contain the case number.

A copy of the NOA2 is generally NOT required in the NVC stage, unless your case file gets lost between USCIS and NVC, which did not happen as NVC sent your grandma a correspondence.

Now find that NVC letter.

NVC letter is here yes it has a case number and they are getting ready to submit all the requirements but my uncle who lives in US, will try to help, he will be the contact person in the US, he was asking for my aunts NOA2.. maybe he thinks it will be needed for nvc or consular processing here in manila..(that is why i asked if it was needed all the way to consular processing)... he wants all the papers ready so it will not delay the processing cos my grandma(US citizen) is the one who petitioned my aunt she is 82 years old so they want this to get done asap. grandma lost the files in USA (noa1 noa20) cos they move to another house, it was filed when she was PR and she became US citizen so it was changed to f1... aunts pd aug 9 1993...

thanks for moving Kathryn, my apology for the wrong post, sponsor of my aunt is my grandma (US citizen) that is why i said aunt is f1 category.. i believe this will be move again. thanks.smile.png

ok - approval notice on the I-130 is not needed.

If the casefile is already at NVC, the i-824 is not needed.

If you need the USCIS receipt #, then call NVC on Tuesday and ask for it, giving over the MNL consular casefile number, and asking for the USCIS receipt #.

---

IMO, the USCIS receipt # isn't needed, and the I-130 approval notice, formletter I-797C, is not needed either.

Tell the Petitioner or the Uncle that things have changed up considerably, so if it's there at NVC, the PETITIONER should call in and jump start the process, asking for the AOS FEE BILL to be emailed out.

What's next for this weekend? Study the DS-261 and DS-260, as the paper DS-3032 and DS-230 are no longer used.

----

[apologies for the semi-smackdown earlier]
