to add more, i guess I don't know the real purpose of putting dad's name on the g325a. If they use it to do back checks then the name they will see on my Canadian government records would be my step dad. But if they will only verify with my birth certificate then it will show my biological dad.

USCIS

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 10th 2014 - NOA2

NVC

July 17th 2014 - Case shipped to NVC

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

August 13th 2014 - DS-261 Form Completed

August 14th 2014 - AOS Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

February 6th 2015 - Case Complete: Supervisor called from NVC to confirm everything has been completed now.

March 27 2015 - Interview Date

March 27 2015 - Approved!

You also dont send a copy of any of your documents until the NVC stage as the beneficiary. At that point you send the scanned copy of your birth certificate to the NVC (or the actual copy if you do not optin for the Electronic processing). So the only documentation you send them as to WHO you are is your passport, marriage certificate and birth certificate. I also suggest sending a copy of your naturalization certificate for Canada. But that won't be for MONTHS.

Did your step father ever legally adopt you? Because then it would make sense to put him down as father, wouldn't it?

thanks once again.

I dont know if he legally adopted me, I have asked them and they said no (the original paperwork was done with the help of relatives so they werent entirely sure). Anyways I have my original birth certificate, so if i was adopted, ontario govern wouldve kept that birth certificate and issued me a new one which is not the case.

Ill go with what is mentioned in this thread. G325a fill it out with my biological dads name, send the marriage cert with step dads name and write a paragraph explaining why the name is different on marriage cert and G325a

it will take 2 months to get the marriage cert amended, we are getting that process started as well

so we got an email from USCIS stating that they have received our case on jan 14 2014 (NOA1) but we still havent gotten a letter in mail. I searched and people said it can take up to a month and its been over a month. Should i call them? (can i call them seeing that I am the beneficiary)

they cashed the cheque already, as expected.

I suggest the advanced search tool:

search terms-> "ISO returned"

member name-> "Darnell"

then click on 'display as posts'

Couldnt find the post.

Yep I know the petitioner would get the mail, she hasn't. We have the receipt number, it has gone to Nebraska center but just no mail. I will have her call tomorrow.

What could be the reason? I have heard that sometimes it can take over a month so I didnt worry much thinking it would come in due time.
