What do you call your significant other?

Hey y'all!

What do you call your significant other?

And why?

I'd love to hear your stories!

Here are ours..

I call him Muffin & Johnomnom. And baby kitty on rare occasions.

Muffin is because at some point there were too many blueberries in the garden, so Nan (his grandma) kept making blueberry.. you guessed it.. muffins. For 5 days straight that's about all he ate (and didn't even gain weight, that #######! lol), so hence why Muffin stuck.

Johnomnom is kinda obvious. His name is John & nomnom is a noise for something yummy. wink.png

Baby kitty, (pronounced babeh kitteh) is a name he gained because he's just silly. He has a deep manly voice, which he puts to good use at his job (he works at a radio station). But yet he is able to make a lot of high pitched noises. So a few weeks after we started dating, Milly (his mom) bought 2 kittens, and for some reason they were (and still are) only interested in him. Ya know how cute kittens are with their tiny meowing.. that cute that John decided to 'speak cat', and the kittens even responded to it. And that's how baby kitty was created.

He calls me Waffle, Pixel or Pixels and Mrs Soothsayer.

Waffle is because I am from Belgium and it's just one thing this country is famous for. That, beer, chocolate and fries. So I'm glad he picked waffle above those others. laughing.gif

Pixel is because we met on Second Life and my name there was Pix. He combined that with the fact that I was on a computerscreen (which consists of pixels). It just stuck, even his family calls me like that now.

And Mrs Soothsayer.. well we got married in SL and his last name there is Soothsayer. So yea.

And honey is more used for when around family, since it's less questionable, heh. We both say that one

Okay, I'm just rambling now.

Do share yours now! wink.png.

This story always sounds incredibly dumb when I explain it to people. blush.png

I used to call him "boo" (my mom always called my brother and me that as kids, just as a sign of affection), and after a while he asked me to stop because it sounded to him like I was saying "poo", as in poop. So I actually did start calling him that, and now we both do it. Puucito (poo see toe) and pupi (poopy), actually. laughing.gif It's just a joke that became a habit. Other than that, we have pretty simple pet names: baby (I use it so much that our friends even call him that now - "el baby") or bebito, amor or amorcito, mi vida, etc etc. We speak more in Spanish to each other, even though we both speak English just fine, so most of our nicknames for each other are in Spanish, too. happy.png I very rarely call him by his real name, unless I'm seriously annoyed about something or we're around his grandfather (who won't put up with that "modern day sass" in his presence. rolleyes.gif )

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

Hah, I do that too. He for sure knows it's serious business then. laughing.gif

And the grandfather part actually too. His grandma always complains about "how back in my time we didn't use any of that mushy stuff, we just called eachother by our name. My mom gave me a name for a reason, bah!"

She's sweet though, hehe.

And I actually like your story, it's cute. Some might call it weird, but hey whatever makes ya happy counts!

Earlier, we'd call each other "Cariño" (Spanish for "sweetheart," or something).

Now, I call her "She Who Must Be Obeyed, Si Man," sigh man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
