Hello every1,

I didn’t know which existing thread I had to piggy back on so I initiated a new one as Rick_ES_USA suggested from:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/337740-f1-watch-list/page-15#entry6576793

__________

Here is my case:

I am over 21 years of age Unmarried whose parents are US citizens. My mom is officially sponsoring me but it’s my dad who is doing all the paper work.

I am citizen of France and currently still here.

My priority date is July 18, 2005. (Rick_ES_USA told me this date’s been current since 2012 but for reasons unknown to me there has been a delay)

In June 2009 I received a notice from USCIS approving my case.

In August 2013 (2 months before this thread), my parents received a notice from USCIS that the I 824 has been approved.

I recently received an email from my dad telling me to get an official police record available, 2 mug shot photos, and 2 photos with my face angling to the side.

What should I expect next?

Is the US govermnent shut down affecting our immigration processes at all?

In August 2013 (2 months before this thread), my parents received a notice from USCIS that the I 824 has been approved.

What was the I-824 approved for (request a duplicate approval notice, request for an approval notice be sent to another U.S. Consulate, or a request to send an approval notice to a U.S. Consulate for derivative visas for family members)?

What should I expect next?

Depends on what the I-824 was approved for.

Is the US govermnent shut down affecting our immigration processes at all?

Not really. Since USCIS charges so high fees, it's more or less self reliant and doesn't need goverment funding very much.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

The notice says: “I824 application for action on an approved application or pet.”

I don't know much else...My dad's pretty unclear...

The notice says: “I824 application for action on an approved application or pet.”

If that is all what it says, all what it means is that there is an I-824 in their system. I don't see that the message says that the I-824 is approved. It only states, that an I-824 was filed for an approved application or petition.

I'm not too familiar with the F1 category, but I think you only have one year after your PD became current to apply for a green card. If you miss this time frame, the petition your parents filed becomes obsolete. Maybe someone else knows a more definitive answer to this or if this rule only applies to CSPA beneficiaries.

2. The child must "seek to acquire" his or her visa within one year of when that visa becomes available (or priority date was current).

depends on what's going on at NVC, currently.

You can call in to NVC, and ask for casefile status.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Whoa Nelly ! Want NVC Info? see http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

Congratulations on your approval ! We All Applaud your accomplishment with Most Wonderful Kissies !

Like i said, I'm not sure if that rule applies to you or just CSPA beneficiaries. Post just this question in another thread, call USCIS or consult a immigration attorney.

Mark88, you are giving very wrong info.

First, an approved I-130 does not expire. The beneficiary is not under a one year clock to seek a visa.

Second, CSPA has nothing to do with an adult child in the F1 category.

You are mixing up the rules.

-------

Prvii, you are fine. The I-130 is good. You are not under any deadline.

CSPA does not apply to you.

hi,

are you sure it's the i824 and not the i864, affidavit of support?

because why would you need the i824?

once your case is complete, you will have your interview probably between weeks or a couple of months

Pleae read correctly, since I gave clear instructions that I don't know if this applies to the OP.
