Hello! My wife and I will be traveling to Palawan this November after our interview. We are pretty set on staying in Coron. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay or things to do???

My first visit to the Philippines included a romantic and intimate stay in the Sunz en Coron, a reasonably priced, yet well kept and guarded hotel in the heart of Coron.

You can find their website here.

Hey Bgreen19! I grew up in Palawan. smile.pngFiance and I went to Coron last year, early November too. (My avatar is actually our air view shot of Coron islands as the plane took off.) We stayed at Asia Grand View Hotel. If you prefer something quiet, but accessible to the city, this is the place. It has a nice-sized pool and good food. Some hotels are way inside the forests and might need private transpo if you plan to roam around in the city during evenings. There are also reasonable hotels around the city proper to stay at, but not sure of the privacy / quietness. The travel agent is still in my contacts list, just drop me a line if you don't have any arrangements yet.

I personally recommend the Kayangan lake tour and shipwreck diving tour coupled with the safari tour. good.gif And I hope you're a big fan of water activities. Anyway if you're not, you will be! My fiance is now even thinking of doing scuba diving lessons after Coron. laughing.gif

I vote for Mommita's Lodge (http://mommitaslodge.jimdo.com/). It may not be a 3-star hotel, but Mommita will take care of your every need. Inquire about packages you can avail of. It usually is cheap but she'll take care of other arrangements like full board, transportation, food (even prepared food for your island hopping trips!), bangkeros (boatmen), etc. etc. She'll take you to the Hot Springs in Coron, multiple island hopping trips. The rooms are air-conditioned. She'll make sure you're well taken cared of. If you do pick her, you'll notice that there's a wall of photos by the door that she takes pride of. Photos of visitors and repeat visitors. I don't know if she'll remember me but just mention "Erika Canlas" referred you. Our family of 11 went there about 2 years ago, including my grandfather. We rented the whole place. It's quite near the docks too. :)

We spent 3 days at Club Paradise on the northern side of Busuanga island. Club Paridise is on its own Island with individual beachfront cottages that are nice. The beaches are beautiful, great snorkeling and even a hidden beach (we had it all to ourselves for a couple of hours). It is more expensive than hotels in Coron but i thought it was worth it. They have multiple excursions that they can arrange for you and even make your own. Just a quick note,,, the ride from the Busuanga Airport is down a small dirt (mud) road to a dock, then a boat ride to the island.

Make sure to get the beach front room :) also try their chili crab. try all the tours they offer. if u want a cheaper tour price go straight to their tourism office which located by the market. its a small town. hopefully you will like Coron as much as we liked it! ohh btw be ready for hiking and swimming activities :) have fun!
