I always read that you need to finish medical atleast 1 week prior the visa interview appointment. Just to be sure that there's no problem with my medical so that I won't need to reschedule my interview, can I proceed with the medical even if I have not paid and schedule visa appointment in Manila US Embassy?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Yeah, as long as you have an MNL case number. You have to present a letter or email from NVC that shows your case#.

I did advance medical too and that's what I showed them because I don't have an interview schedule yet.

isn't CR-1 need to pay the fee before interview? or only K-1?

Both pay the fee before the interview.

Difference are:

IR/CR applicants pay the immigrant visa fee to NVC.

K1 applicants pay the visa fee at BPI.

Fees to be paid at the NVC stage are: Affidavit of Support fee ($88) and Immigrant Visa Fee ($230 per applicant).

Medical fee at St Luke's ($223): http://www.slec.ph/us-visa-applicants.shtml#medical-fees

No fees to be paid at USEM.

After you receive your visa, your petitioner will pay the Immigrant Fee of $165 for your green card: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3a2bb75e8109b310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

You can but like Apple said you will need the NVC letter or email with your MNL # on it at least. It's not a big deal changing your interview date if you do run into issues at St. Luke's. You are allowed to reschedule twice with out issue..

- plan for the best, but be prepared for the worse.

Yes, you can. that was my reason too and just done recently for as long as you have the MNL#.

Thank you all for your reply! I will be doing my medical this Wednesday and I will just be presenting the printscreen copy of my status in CEAC website since I haven't got any letter. I found my case number by calling the NVC.

  • 4 weeks later...

Does anybody know why you need to schedule medical one week before the interview?

I have an interview scheduled for Nov. 26th and have everything I need prepared except for a new passport in her newmarried name with over 6 months time left. I am taking my stepdaughter in for medical on Monday but my wife cannot because we are waiting for passport appointment on wens 13th and will do 7 day rush processing should receive the passport on Nov 21st. Only then can we do medical after receiving the passport on the 22nd and 25th. Then the interview is on the 26th wow am cutting it close but don't want to reschedule if I don't have to.

We had intentions of completing all this much earlier but wait on documents(NSO Marriage, CFO to get new passport and every delay) has taken longer than expected. Over all the process has went well it just this last couple weeks than are difficult.

Questions:

Why do you need or do they recommend the medical one week in advance?

What happens if we complete wife's medical on Tuesday and have the interview on Wednesday?
