A Bit Worried -- what do you think???

My NOA1 date is 9-25-2006. I see that quite a few before and after my NOA1 date have been approved. My fear is that I will be placed in limbo since I had a prior K1 and was married before to someone out of the USA. Thus, my fear.

My fiance, who I have now known for 2 years, wants to marry and I do too, but wanted to do it here. However, we have been talking and thinking of marrying in January 2006 in Colombia and then filing for the K3. I know I will need to start again, but at least I have some confidence that I will eventually obtain K3 since I will be married. On the other hand, I could be stuck in limbo for many months (as I have read on here regarding others) and thus, the waiting period will be roughly the same -- and the benefit would be is that I am married to the girl of my dreams.

Any thoughts???? Thanks, and sorry to bother all of you with this. Just I am a bit nervous and worried. Thank you. Stinger.

There have been recent approvals of multiple petition filers. Last week was the first of the late September filers being approved. I would not quite yet consider yourself overdue.

It's not accurate, and a common misconception, to think that getting married and filing for the K3 will help you get approved faster (or with more certainty) than a K1 would--it won't! You will just be starting all over again.

The only thing you would accomplish by dropping the K-1, getting married and doing a K-3 would be bypassing the IMBRA requirements for multiple filings. Since these do not seem to be creating a problem for anyone so far, hopefully you will not to have a problem with it.

The processing times for a K-1 and a K-3 are pretty similar so what you would be doing is to be starting over and throwing away the time you have already waited.

I hope it goes fast for you. I will be sending my K-1 with waver request for multiple filings tomorrow myself and hope we both find it not to be a problem.

12/14/2006 Applied for K-1 with request for Waver for Multiple filings within 2 years.

I know its hard, and easier said than done, but just be patient. there are going to be people getting approved who sent in their files before you. your petition goes where it goes. i remember when everyone around me was getting approved and they sent in their petitions 2 months after me, i was so discouraged. but soon after we got our approval. there are many reasons why some ppl get approved faster, i just dont know them bc i dont work for uscis. when the approval comes, the wait will feel worth it. hang in there, i feel youll have yours soon. :)

hey Stinger don't abandon the K1. I see that you just filed at the end of September - give it more time - the normal is between 4 to 6 months from the beginning to the end. Do not abandon the K1 process unless you get rejected - then you may have to face the same problems with K3.

In any case - Bogota is very very easy for K1s and hands them out very routinely. Do a search for club colombia and read other people's timelines/experiences etc. You can also email some of them to get some help. (You can check my timeline also. )Good Luck

Thanks for the words of advice and encouragement. I am just worried that I have had a previous K1 and a previous marriage and that they will delay my approval for quite some time at CSC. Thus, I was considering just getting married...at least I will be married. But you are right...patience. It's just a bit rough for me not to think of this when others before and after me have been approved by CSC and therefore I start thinking I will be in limbo for a while.

Thanks..I will check into that Club Colombia site...
