My fiance' doesn't have the packet 3 yet, but should be getting it soon. Can she schedule her medical exam or does she need to wait for this packet or interview to be scheduled? Thanks!

No need to wait if the packet is coming soon.

Don't know if this will happen for you but when we scheduled our medical they asked if we had the police certificate. We didn't have that yet, but we just said it was on its way and they were fine with that.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There is no real packet 3 in Ukraine. You can schedule your medical and interview and you don't have to wait until you get anything from the embassy. The only thing they send from the embassy is a letter telling you to go to their site for all the info. My fiancee received this letter 3 days after we already passed the interview. You do not need it at all. Just go to their site and look at the PDF for all the info you need and go online and schedule the interview and call the clinic to schedule the medical.
