I see a lot of comments about expedites here which hold some truth, but not entirely.

I don't think the reasoning for the expedite is sufficient for USCIS, but I can say that the weight of an expedite depends on who submits it. If you wish to try and go that route, get both the Ombudsman and a senator to file an expedite for you. However, as is already mentioned, dealing with the Pakistan embassy is the bigger problem. You'll have to hang in there and be as supportive as you can until the petition is approved. Good luck bro!

Try K3 Visa...Maybe that can help. Right now they are processing K3 visas in 5 months. And best of all K3 is free if you have a pending I-130 petition. Hey you never know if K3 will get processed faster than I-130.

From the look of things I-130 is moving reallly really slow

Let's look at the worst case scenario, short of amputation: Dual total knee replacement.

In America before any surgery is performed the hospital team must be sure that the person can be appropriately cared for.

If the person is unable to care for themselves, for one day, for one week or for one month--the team will not allow the surgery unless the person is willing and able to be transferred to some sort of assisted care facility.

In the case of a dual knee total replacement the person would recover for a day or two (or more in some cases) in a medical/surgical (general) ward of a hospital. Then if there is not family or someone hired to assist them with the activities of daily living they will be transferred to a skilled nursing facility and or to an assisted care facility.

These facilities have physical therapists and occupational therapists (the latter assists with how to get socks on after surgery and how to do things that are now difficult). Only when the person can mobilize on their own, perhaps with crutches are they allowed to go home.

So, plain and simple--even dual total knee replacement surgery is not considered as any sort of urgent need. Also most knee surgery in not urgent since most of these surgeries can be put off for periods of time.

It may be difficult to understand, as a foreigner, that in the US the team must be assured before surgery that the flow from surgery to recovery is assured--if not, the team will not allow the surgery.

I do not find that difficult to understand, I think most Foreigners find the need to show a Credit Card first the most difficult thing to understand.

I am going the k3 route. I am in my 5th month and still no noa2. so that is not true with all k3s.

Depending on the insurance she has, if she needs help that bad... I would have her check into a visiting nurse or a caregiver for now. At least that will get her some help taking care of her as you try to speed things up.
