Need help: i-134 Problems and Confusion

Friends,

Things are moving along for my fiancee's move to the USA. She's scheduled to have her interview with the Tokyo Embassy in a couple of weeks, and I just realized that I dropped the ball regarding her i-134, and still need to send that in.

There's so much different advice here, and I'm having a hard time understanding things, so let me explain my situation.

Her interview is scheduled in 2 weeks.

I was just recently laid off from my job, therefore do not have any income. I do have savings, but I'm afraid that there won't be enough time for the banks to write the requisite letters.

So my mother is willing to be the sponsor. Can she be the only sponsor, or do I need to be a sponsor and she co-sponsor?

I figure the fastest way would be for my mother to be the sponsor, provide her tax return (She's self-employed). Would that work?
