Hello fellow VJers!

This was my third day in a row calling the NVC to see if they have received our file from CSC.... and I was surprised to get good news! We waited 44 days. Now that we have an NVC case number, I have no idea what to do next! We are working with an immigration lawyer (I know, a waste of money) so she will certainly be helping us along the way, but we also wanted to be our own advocates and get the ball rolling.

Any advice or knowledge on next steps would be greatly appreciated!

Depending on which consulate you are filing with, go online and check out their Packet 3 requirements and start putting those together... things like a long-form birth certificate, police certificate, stuff that just takes time in general that you're going to want to get out of the way right away. Your fiance is going to need to fill out the I-134 for you and provide evidence that she can support you, so look into that as well, because he/she is going to need to mail you that stuff.

I hope this helps as a starting point.

Whoo whoo! I got my file number as well from NVC! On route now to Montreal Canada! My US petitioner has all the forms in need in the mail for me. I have starting filling put the DS-160 online. That's as far as I got. Not sure what to do or when to submit that online form yet. I believe you have to wait upon confirmation that the us embassy has received you petition and move on to packet 3. Please let me know anything else I can do.
