has anyone suggested marmite yet?

Not yet... what is it?

It's a yeast extract, generally used to spread on sandwiches - people either love it or hate it (usually hate it!) You could also try Bovril, which is similar but a beef extract. I'm English and my American girlfriend organised an American/British party last year and the marmite was quite popular because there is nothing quite like it in the US. We also found some little cocktail sticks with Union Jacks so we could label the "foreign" food. Mince pies, crackers, twiglets, Wensleydale cheese (or any other English cheese), Battenburg cake and some good old Prawn cocktail crisps are also worth looking out for

...oh, when I say crackers I mean Christmas crackers which you pull apart, they explode and you get a toy, joke and paper hat. It's quite fun watching Americans trying to work out what they are and how to use them, one lady carefully unwrapped hers (much to my amusement) :)

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Walkers makes prawn cocktail crisps, and they are just like Lays, just with that flavor...I didn't like them, personally, but Craig loves em!! (I love, love, love the worcheshire flavored ones though!! So wish we had those here!...also these bacon crisps things...they look like a fake piece of bacon..can get them anywhere..Sainsbury's etc...Craig's mum sends us some once in a while..they're nummyyyyy!)

Jen, I bet if you don't know what marmite is yet, your hub probably doesn't like it!!! We have two big tubs of it in the cupboard now..enough to last for ages...ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Can't STAND the stuff!!!

Sounds like a really cool idea, Jen...I'm taking note of some of the websites here...Craig's bday is in February, and it might be something good to do for me too...good luck with it!:) M.
