So why are they not working?

I am one of those furloughed workers. Last I checked nothing has been passed by the Senate or signed by the President so we still aren't being paid.

407 to Zip in the House and Obama backs it, it's what they did in '95. It's a paid vacation.

no offense to the government workers on a paid vacation..... but if the governemt is shut down because they do not have money, how can they guarantee back pay to its employees.???

More importantly, how can anyone seriously think that the government shut down is about deficits and debt?

Hundreds of thousands of federal workers on paid leave. That'll reduce the deficit, eh?

Not at all.

That's why the whole thing is political nonsense. The government is NOT "shut down", the workers WILL get paid evetually and for now can collect unemployment which they will NOT have to pay back...this is even better than a paid vacation. It is getting "time and a half" for vacation!

87% is not shut down, everyone will be paid

and we expect something to change?

More importantly, how can anyone seriously think that the government shut down is about deficits and debt?

Who would think that?

It is about Obama demanding he get his own way.

You are wrong again. I have filed for unemployment. If I collect unemployment and then the Federal government goes ahead an pays me for the days that I was furloughed I will have to pay back any unemployment benefits I collected from the State of Texas.

Because it is not shut down...87% of it is open. Because there is enough money (did you stop having taxes withhled from your paycheck?)

It is about Obama's temper tantrum.

Good. Glad I am wrong. Pay it back!

I presume you agree with everything else I posted but I really don't care.

not me... my vote, given the choices in the poll.... was that no one in government has any idea what they are doing...

Poor choice. They know exactly what they are doing, it is just not what they are supposed to be doing. These polls suck.

Nice to see all the FSU members here. ask your wives what it would take to close a Memorial of Glory to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in Russia or Ukraine. Hmmmm?

Ask them what they think would happen if Putin or Yanukovich put barricades, police and guard dogs around a Memorial for the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. rofl.gif

Oh, certain folk that post on VJ.

The price of admission is very low. But not quite as low as the requirements for voting

When Elena started going shopping here in the USA.... she was confused about how the stores price the items... specifically, when she goes to check out and then they add the sales tax... In Russia, I think its a 17% VAT, but that price is included in the price as marked on the item.... so when you go to checkout, you pay what the price is marked on the item...... so no surprises there....
