Hi, I have my K1 interview a week tomorrow and I'd just like to list the documents I have to take to it,

Appointment letter

MRV receipt

Passport with 2 USA passport size pics

Police Certificate

Birth Certificate

Proof of financial support (I-134 form)

(I haven't been married or anything like that so don't need divorce or marriage certificates)

Is there anything at all I'm missing?

Thanks a lot

Yes, all your info that you have met in person, pictures of the two of you together in different cloths and locations. Boarding passes and hotel recepts etc. Evidence of a bonified relationship. Copies of the things you sent the first time. A timeline of the relationship is always nice. I made a small photo album of our trip together on snapfish. Something easy to flip through. The interview is all about establishing that you are in a real relationship.

Photocopy of any document you want back like your birth certificate or possibly any financial proofs that are originals.

Edit--none of that listed in reply 2 is needed, wanted, or looked at in London.

Yeah I have a photocopy of my police and birth certificates to take.

It makes me nervous when some people say to take a whole copy of the I-129F petition and take down copies of all the DS applications I sent in because I don't have any of that stuff.

But then a lot say its not needed.

thanks for your reply

The person who said that interviewed in Ankara, Turkey. It's different in London.

I took various copies of the original petition and the docs I submitted but they were really a comfort blanket. Never so much as glanced at that. I took one photo of us together and that was of us when we dated at college 30 years ago. Caused some amusement but not needed. They will ask about the relationship but it's really *how* you answer the questions rather than what you say imho.

There's no way I'd go without relationship evidence. It's not like it's that hard/expensive/challenging to take AND people HAVE been asked for it.

Here is one thread, but there are others.

This has been a long, expensive journey and I can't imagine adding more time/expense because of not taking photos!

10/23/13 - Embassy email states they do not have our documents. Poor Steven does 160 again.
10/23/13 - DoS says our case is still "processing" and not "qualified" (interview ready) and to do newest forms.
11/05/13 - CEAC Update. DoS says case is "eligible for interview" and we're waiting on next interview date.

The only other thing I took was my fiancees most recent tax transcript. All that relationship stuff was not asked for.

Seems they just establish a relationship by asking a few questions about your other half and their family.

I guess it varies depending on who you deal with, but when i was at window 1 in the embassy i was asked for a lot of financial support proof (tax return, letter of employment & I-134), when i got to the second window for the actual interview he didn't ask for any proof just questions about my relationship.

The way i see it is that this is a long and expensive journey and it is better to be over prepared, at least that way you won't make your journey any longer or more expensive.

General comment on fiance interviews--

The document collector is used to people proving income with a tax return (or transcript). It is habit of some to say "Do you have a tax return". That doesn't mean they are absolutely required. They are just prompting you to hand over some financial proof. London has approved sponsorship with all sorts of income proofs and does not have a specific "must have" list. For example if you have a new job after finishing university, your last tax return may not reflect your current income. If asked, do you have a tax return?" feel confident to say, "No, I am proving income with a letter from my current employer."

If you sent some photos with the original petition, they often look at those. If your petition included NO photos together, then bring some in case they want to add them to the file.

This might be a silly question, but I'd rather know for sure in order to avoid any unnecessary hassle or delays during my appointment there

Is it wise to put all the I-134 paperwork into a folder? (Its a simple plastic folder with page wallets inside) Or will they want the pages and copies of things just as they are?

You can keep it in a folder for your own benefit, but present it to them as just paper. They will take it out of any folder you give them. They punch and fix all the papers together in one file for you as they collect them from you. Don't make that hard for them. :)

If you mean plastic page protectors on individual pages, don't ever use those for any immigration submission---in person or mailed....now or in the future.
