Easier to get coverage.......People cannot even log on and enter their information

They can if they have state exchanges - which was what I quoted about.

As far as the federal site - I don't think we need to hit the panic button just yet. I know that may be a hard concept for those who have had their finger on the panic button for the last 8 years already, but they do still have time to get this ironed out.

Try going to the other Federal health care website. Ohh wait. There isn't one.

Nice use of "fear-mongering" Talk about soundbites.

i don't need to go to the federal health care website. i've already got insurance through my employer.

indeed, tell me more about this lack of competition and how its dismantling our current wonderous healthcare system..

So then you're not relying on the govt. to sign up for your healthcare. Congratulations! You're on one of the lucky ones.

I think it's a little odd for the govt.to come out and say "You have to buy heathcare if you don't currently have it" And then say "come buy it here from this exchange that doesn't work." Call me crazy, but I have a hard time expecting anything positive from a government that has a debt running 100% of the entire economic output of the country for one year. Maybe they should get that minor detail worked out before they start running websites for healthcare. It's a simple 2nd grade level concept. Don't spend more than you make. They haven't got that down, and you want them to run websites? rofl.gif

Not sure if you noticed, but one of the main reasons to have a website is that you don't need a human on the other end. Yet, when this "shutdown" happened, many govt. websites magically stopped working. Kinda makes you wonder if they have this whole internet thing figured out yet.

websites are a means to an end function. obtaining health insurance is the goal - not website innovation. i don't give two sh*ts about the government running websites. i do care about folks getting health care coverage. big picture, gotta focus on the big picture.

not sure if you were aware, websites cost money to manage and operate. humans are behind the money and the operating. the internet is not as magical as you seem to believe.

i don't even work for the government and yet the shutdown is affecting my job and business operations. the ttb website is a huge part of my job. and that mother is gone, shut down. know why? actual people review the applications that i submit on the ttb website.

My point is that the government can't even get their own financial house in order, and now we're going to turn this over to them? I don't know how accurate the $634 million number is in this thread title, but that seems like an awful lot of money to get a website up and running. I'm getting flashbacks to the days of $400 hammers and $200 toilet seats. Those are mid 80s dollars.

OK why can't we have a discussion without name calling and other nastiness?

Short Video on Socrates. Also look up the Socratic method as well.

The reason people get mad, defensive, name calling, etc is because of Cognitive Dissonance. http://www.simplypsychology.org/cognitive-dissonance.html

Cognitive dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance etc.

For example, when people smoke (behavior) and they know that smoking causes cancer (cognition).

i would like to see the u.s. move forward. the right needs to accept that obamacare is happening and knuckle down, get to work on making it function properly. the money end of the website shouldn't be an issue given the current standstill in washington.

I guess I'm having a hard time getting past the 634 million dollars. To put it into perspective I could short-time 12.6 million bar girls in Bangkok for that much money.
