Tom Delay: “Hillary will be the next president of the United States"

DeLay met with conservative bloggers at a weekly lunch meeting hosted by HUMAN EVENTS and the Heritage Foundation.

[...]

DeLay said he was motivated to start the blog and create the Grassroots Action and Information Network after observing the success of liberal organizations such as MoveOn.org, the Media Fund and Americans Coming Together. He said he hopes to utilize some of the same tools to help Republicans win elections.

It’s this liberal coalition, working in concert with the news media, that will propel Clinton to the White House in 2008, DeLay said. “Hillary will be the next president of the United States because they have built a coalition,” he said.

I have a theory that there will be a protest conservative candidate in the next election a la Buchanan who will split the Republican vote and deliver a Democrat to the white house, probably Hillary, much like Perot insured the Clinton victory in '92 and Buchanan himself in 96. Mark my words.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

What they're really afraid of, according to US News & World Report.

I personally don't care for Hillary, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for her especially if the GOP gives us another W.

I actually entertained the thought that it would be Clinton-Obama back in the summer -- that article is interesting

I don't really care much for Clinton myself, but I would take her over the next W-style candidate.

I do like McCain -- but I think if he was the GOP choice, it would virtually guarantee a protest candidate because of his views on immigration and moderate social stance. He doesn't have much support from the conservative base or the religious right.

and looking at another article from that link, it looks like even Mitt Romney is having problems shoring up his conservative credentials:

I think it will be an interesting election.

Romney won't get anywhere with the Evangelicals because he's Mormon. McCain is dead in the water too, he's not "loyal" enough. Rudy might as well be gay, fuhhgedaboutit.

Brownback stands a chance at winning the nomination. No chance at all in the general.

God, someday I'd love to see a prominent, moderate Republican stand up to the evangelical right and point out they've sabotaged the party and divided the US. I'm actually afraid to vote for a Republican because of the way they own the Republican party.

I can only hope that Hillary wins the 2008 primaries as she's not electable.....Too many people find her borish and pompous.

Anyone remember her "health care" reforms?

to quote my husband, "There's nothing more expensive than 'free' healthcare."

it won't work. we already have universal healthcare in this country for the elderly and the disabled...it's called Medicare. The only laws that are more complex than IRS tax code are the laws pertaining to the Medicare system. Medicare is funded by Social Security, and we all know that system is about to be bankrupted. As a health care worker, I deal with Medicare on a daily basis. I dread the day that I have to depend on a federally-funded program for my own health care needs.
