Im under K1-Visa and just got married. Filling up the I-485, did you have to submit the I-693 form or just a copy of the DS 3025? This seems to be confusing. Did you have to see a civil surgeon? Just checking out how you did.. Thanks!

Submit the I-693, too many get an RFE when sending the 3025. You have to get a civil surgeon to transcribe the 3025 to the I-693, they will give you a copy and seal a copy in an envelope that you mail in with the I-485.

Trick will be to find a civil surgeon who doesn't try to scam you out of the cost of another physical. Civil surgeon we used charged $40 to transcribe the I-693.

Thanks hank. This is what we thought too...

Another question, are we supposed to put in my wife's new name now on the application, which has my last name? or stick with her maiden name as approved on her K1 Visa? We have applied for SS under her maiden name but due to the shutdown, we arent able to change her name to her new name. We however have the marriage certificate now which shows her name being changed. Can we proceed with the submission of the

I-485 without changing name on th SS card? What is the timeframe for us to submit the I-485? Does it need to be within 3 months?

Thanks again. You have been very helpful!
