I must definitely caucus with Mrs. T-B. about this, si man. It ain't Guayaquil dialect and it ain't mountainous dialect, no and no man.

It's Manabita! yes.gif Everyone in the Manabi province (which occupies most of the Western coast) talks like that. They also speak quite quickly which, between all this adding and smooshing of syllables and miscellaneous letters, makes it difficult to catch onto. Hubby has the bad habit of trying to do the same nonsense when speaking English, a habit which I'm trying desperately to beat out of him. wink.png

Party last night was fun. Hubby disallowed the bee bodysuit outfit (much to my disappointment, but he wasn't thrilled about putting on spandex), but we whipped together last minute costumes anyway and had a good time. He slept through his alarm this morning, though, and got to work half an hour late! unsure.png Hope he didn't get into any trouble, but I guess the fact that he's still at work signals that they didn't can him. Whew. cool.png

Ok I have to ask, why do you not wear yellow to work? I don't look good in yellow so I never think about that as a no no.

Why is it my husband can't read my mind, he should be able to by now.

Yellow... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I have two 'bar' shirts (I have another name for them, but I'm keeping it clean) that I saw recently, when packing up the house. One of them is yellow, the other blue. Both are 'muted neon', heavy silk, resemble a mens dress shirt.

I remember, I got more play with the yellow shirt than the blue one. The only reason I can think of - is that that one shirt makes my eyes pop (my eyes change color often) and it really is my 'lucky' shirt. I've not worn it since getting married, and I think it's time to give it away.

I've never worn a yellow dress shirt or a yellow tie. I did try a yellow tie once, with blue polka dots. Didn't work for me.

OK: When I named/butchered "Bahia de Caraquez," Mrs. T-B. nodded and said, "Bahia -- near Guayaquil. They talk pretty bad." When I said "Manabita," she said, "If you think my English is bad when I don't finish my words, theirs is worse -- forget it." So, that's settled, si ma[n].

Seriously for a fleeting moment: It fascinates me that Ecu natives carry their dialectical patterns from Spanish to English, gee man. I wonder if this applies to speakers of other languages, too?

Not a very restful Sunday, despite an 80-minute nap, no man. Many regular chores besides tough laundry loads + ironing (Laundress invoice submitted). Broke string of 4 consecutive Sundays totally in the house when had to venture outward (pre-coffee) to buy a Sunday newspaper to replace the one that got soaked in the early-morn storm, drip man. Mini-Bone cranky in 2-year-old fashion most of the day. The little 4-year-old blonde hellion (who somehow is his best friend) came to visit for too long (any duration = too long). She proceeded to ride his tricycle around at high speeds and into all the furniture, grrrr man. Cat got out for perhaps 30 seconds and brought in and damaged a ratoncito (small mouse), which out-freaked Mrs. T-B.; I had to reach under furniture to retrieve and dispose of it, squeak man. Pre-ratoncito, cat did not nap with me today, no man.
