I didn't get an interview. Turns out I wasn't even considered. It was hilarious though, when the HR rep called to inform me, she told me that they were so impressed with my work and that they would like me to freelance for them.

SERIOUSLY?

You told me to apply for the job, I got amazing references and when you don't even give me an interview, you want me to do the job for free while someone else gets the salary?

#### no, man.

That sucks :(

Wacko....this is when you don't slow down.....

You speed up. Create a reputation that preceeds you.

I do have a fully furnished basement living area! Nicest bathroom in the house!

Wait for the spring melt and the rising water table. You might have a beach right in your living room.

I rented the lower level of my buddies house for a while before I bought. Rising water table was always a worry. I refinished the place, and put the nicest bathroom in the house in there. After I moved out, his son and daughter in-law moved in for a bit. The water rose and flooded them out. So much for the refinishing job I had done.

I just realized that I can't stay away from work all week.....#######....

Get to work SnT, the company will fall apart without you.

With all the talk about red as a power color, I just happen to be wearing red and have plans to be at a customer's facility today. Not sure how good with will work under the clean room gown I'll be wearing, but they'll see me coming and going in it.

Sounds like all the houses around here. I had been living in the walkout when we first bought the house and there was a little water seeping in when I went to bed. I woke up, put my foot down and realized that the water had gotten up to my bed! Scary!

I noticed while looking at houses in MN/ND that on certain sites they include the basement square footage in with the rest of the house. IMO, basement level is not ideal living space for many reasons - usually where a furnace is, hydrostatic pressure creating flooding, radon, etc. By regulation here, we are not allowed to include our finished basement in square footage and our assessed value cannot include it. I keep having to tell myself that a 1900 sq ft house is not really 1900...

This might happen thanks to sand smugglers... Have you heard about it?

Just a couple of days ago I watched a documentary "Sand Wars", about how the sand is a new gold nowadays.

It left my mouth wide open, since I haven't had the slightest idea about what's being done all over the world, how the sand is stolen right from the beaches and all...

There is no shortage of sand in this part of the country. Dig down just about anywhere and you're going to find sand. This is the land of 10,000 lakes, and after they coined the phrase it was discovered they underestimated the amount of lakes we have. And for every lake there's a a dozen ponds and swamps. We're water rich in this part of the country, with water tables very close to the surface in many places. They've put it into the building codes now that all new homes must be drain tiled with a sump pit. Its up to the homeowner to add a pump if they need it. Where my old home was, our drain tiles kept the basement from flooding many times in the spring. I heard from one of the original neighborhood owners that the reason one house on the block had no basement, was they started digging one and immediately hit water. Every spring their back yard was a pond for about a month.

To include basements in the square feet of a house, the basements must be finished. For a quite a few years, all new homes must have a drain tile system to deal with ground water. And you're right about radon to, it is an issue in this part of the country. New homes also need a system to prevent radon gas from entering. If you're going to buy, demand the basement be tested for radon before buying.

Good advice. I think every house I have ever lived in has had radon to some degree. We actually had our own detector at some point. The houses we are looking at are mostly older, like 1920s-1940s, so I don't think those will come with necessarily, although we can probably get some off the price for repairs if there is too much radon detected.

Our house sale is driving me nuts though. I just want it to be over.
