tark hasn't described the noise in more detail. a car mechanic woulda known right away if it was a steering pump. And would not blindly replace a tensioner. A bad tensioner makes a crackling bearing noise. Not a whining.

Thats the one thing that would make me question the power steering pump. Why didn't the mechanic diagnose it? Maybe he has a worn brake just getting close to replacement time? Put a little extra force on the wheels by turning and the wear tabs touch the disk.

good guess. But there just isn't too many things where the frequency goes up along with the RPMs. It should be quite easy to diagnose.....

I've been in Arkansas for 5 1/2 years and love how it's not as cold. I don't think my older kids have adjusted to the weather here. They still pretty much run around in shorts and t-shirts it's gotten to be in the high 20's, they still complain about the heat though in the summer. I like the heat, I'm always cold.

I'm betting chiefly that servicing the power-steering system will fix things, and secondarily that the pump is bad, and tertiarily (Asia, that's "manily") that it's one of the above two plus something extra. High repair bills comes in threes (Asia, "high repair bills come in manies"), si man.

Feel under the lousy cold weather today. Mrs. T-B. poisoned me with last night's dinner and I awoke coughing uncontrollably twice overnight. Second incident was so robust that Mini-B. awoke and inquired about my welfare, which I will have to apply for until Someone catches up on the delinquent salary/benefits for Thread Laundress duties, $igh man.

If I don't get any sicker, I plan to take the T-B.-mobile to a dealership for diagnosis, hear man, perhaps on Friday morn. If the prospective repair is major or serious, I'll take the diagnosis and the T-B.-mobile back to my mechanic for the actual repair$, $i man. A hunnerd fiddy (in Poland, "many") is the maximal permissible expense, sigh man.
