Tarklar bought one for cheap.....

I think Tarklar is part bird, you always hear him going cheep cheep cheep. But then you got to admire the money he saves.

Just had a rather expensive weekend. My wife and I's second anniversary so we took a weekend trip, booked a rather pricey suite with a Jacuzzi, and lived life like we were rich for the weekend. At the end my pocket book said ouch, but it was worth it.

You're a good guy professor....

Happy anniversary.

Thanks, the official date is tomorrow, but last weekend was the closest weekend to make our get away.

Why? Oil?

I thought you wanted to stay in connecthedots......

House is ending up selling for way less than we thought it would and with the possibility of IVF and ####### in the future, we need to live somewhere cheaper. I just don't want to house poor. Plus, where we are thinking is nowhere near the oil fields (although that boom has filtered down throughout the area), but something like 50% of the people are of Scando origin.

Taco dog is very happy. Lots of new taco friends, big spaces to run around in, "grandparents" to spoil him stupid. Hubby is also doing well. Had a full time job that he enjoys and must be good at because his bosses have been talking about a promotion in coming months, since one of his superiors is leaving. The only thing he doesn't like is th food here - says it's all prepackaged or canned, and misses fresh things. Can't win them all, though.

The only one who seems to be having a tough go of it all is me, ironically. sad.png between my family and my low paying job, I don't know which is worse. Seriously stressing, and missing Ecuador (though not my MIL, rest assured). Didn't think I'd have a problem getting used to my own country again.

Hope everyone here is good, though! Any major news? Where are caryh and KDH?

Oooh yah for Taco Dog! DH hates the food here with some exceptions but he is a really limited eater. I try my best to make some Danish things, but he won't even eat the bread in this country because it isn't dense enough. sleepy.gif He's lost a lot of weight though. Everyone seems to really like DH and he got a raise at his job, but I think he is unhappy with the whole situation. Still living with my mother is driving us all nuts because quite simply adult children probably shouldn't be living with their parents.

I'm not working, which makes me happy, but sometimes I do miss little things about Denmark like the public transport, my MIL and FIL (who I adore), how striking everyone was.... but I know that our quality of life is better here and the little one LOVES school here.

My wife wants a new stove too. She likes the look of those glass top units, but if I'm changing ours out, I want a gas stove.

My new machines are just about wrapped up. Now I need to start catching back up on IT work.

We have a glass cooktop here and back in DK. I'm not a huge fan. Unless you get a really pricey unit, I find that things take longer to cook/boil and it is hard to clean the burnt on stuff off no matter what fancy stuff you use. I so want a non-glass one with a double oven. luv.gif

Sorry, I can't reveal because it is under my real name. wink.png

I do waste countless hours finding amazing craft projects when I could actually spend the time doing them.

How do you like Minnesota? The Dane and I are debating moving to ND soonish.

Word. I have an insane amount of recipes to try once I finally have someone to cook for.

I love Minnesota! Every place has it's ups and downs, but I really like it here for the most part. Where in ND are you looking at? We (my family) used to live in Sheyenne, ND. COLD AS HELL.

Happy anniversary to you peeps! And yay cary is alive!

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

I had a glass cooktop years ago, I did not like it. Nothing beats natural gas in my view. Right now I have an electric stove, which I've planned to replace because I want gas. I would have done it before my wife arrived, but all the costs of buying a new home, and getting her through immigration, plus the pending wedding costs made me sideline i for a bit. Plus the money I set aside for it went towards a new refrigerator since the one in the place was dead when I moved in. That's what you get buying a foreclosed property I guess.

Happy Anniversary to you to. I hope you husband can learn to be happy in the USA. I kind of wonder if being out in North Dakota might make that even harder. Its pretty darn remote and isolated country. Great if you like that sort of thing, but not so good if you like urban settings.

Hubby has lost a lot of weight, too, which annoys me because I've been gaining it, despite my very careful eating. I think living with my dad has a lot to do with my stress and general unhappiness, but I also miss our Ecu friends and the general lifestyle. If it weren't for fear of hubby losing his GC, I would honestly want to move back, but probably to a big city like Quito. I feel very stagnant here, and despite our best efforts to save money for our own place, things have continually cropped up, forcing us to spend and start over. A little down on life in general at the moment, to be honest. :/

Happy anniversary, Caryh! Hope it was lovely. :) hubby and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary together in August. Nothing too big, but it's always nice to acknowledge those milestones.

USC who lived in Manabí, Ecuador with hubby from 2009 - 2013. Hubby became a naturalized American citizen in August 2016. Currently living together in northern Virginia.

My wife doesn't seem to follow recipes, she just starts throwing things together out of what ever she has. She doesn't even have names for most of the dishes she makes.

Yes, I'm alive, just been really busy at work, which is where I check into VJ from.

I seriously had to tell the car dealership this past week that we couldn't afford to spend $900 on a non-essential repair (a vapor sensor has malfunctioned and requires taking off the whole gas tank), but the total bill for all the non-essential stuff was $2000. The guy kind of let me know that we could put it off for quite some time, and it was only a problem with the Emissions inspections which I just did 3 weeks ago, so saved there. Eeek! Just when I start saving something is always coming up.

I also might have put on all the weight that DH lost! He keeps bringing me food when I am stressed. I think it will help that as of this week he has the car M-F, so if I want junk food I'd have to do a couple hours of walking or some nice bicycling.

My wife's weight has bounced all over since she got here. First putting it on, so she needed new clothes. Then when she started working, loosing so much she needed new clothes again. Now that she's adjusted to not grazing 10 times a day, which is how she ate in her home country, she's put weight back on to the point her old larger clothes need replacing because they're too small lol. I laugh at her now, because her cooking and pushing me to eat more has put a good 20 or more pounds on me.

Right now I think our big issue is that he'd rather a slightly different job and living with my mother. Both of those are fixable. The Dane doesn't care too much about the cold or rural vs. urban, so I don't think that would be a big deal. Some of the places seem like fairly large towns and I think there are some benefits to that. We are supposed to close on November 11th, I think... if they don't come up with something else. Then it will be a little while before the estate closes and hopefully we'll be able to fly out and look at houses in January.

We are looking east of there, not exactly set in stone where, but I do think it is really cold! I just want where I live to be 60-70 year round, too much to ask for, right? I should be fine as long as I can hibernate for the winter.

Think of all the flannel, oversized sweaters, and sexy boots you could buy!

ND isn't bad. I always enjoyed driving out there because you can see for miles. The people are usually friendly.
