Text books make good fires

I assume it's because of a few factors. ADT has a record of my past calls. They've all been me and my stupidity. When I was on the phone with them, I said nothing was wrong, but they sent the cops because I couldn't remember my password. At least they sent them I guess. Alas.

Am I the only one who thinks most American textbooks are a sham?

Uggghhhh textbooks will be the death of me, but this one is written by the professor or the department and it is free. If you are writing your own textbook, you best make it relevant to the homework you are giving, IMO.

It is somewhat common enough, at least in math, to be using an unpublished "text" written by the professor.

The only texts I ever kept were my Shakespeares, Miltons, and texts about language/cultures/etc.

It has been pretty dry, so we should be ok in terms of ground water flooding I think. I haven't heard anything about coast flooding yet.

Yale is locked down because of a gunman on/near campus as far as I know, which is kind of business as usual in New Haven.

Back in my college days I had a chemistry professor who had written our textbook, or at least was the lead author of the book. I couldn't make heads or tails out of his lectures, so I relied on the textbook he had written. Imagine my surprise when I got heavy mark downs on the midterm exam for doing the chemistry problems the way in the book, rather than how they were shown in the lectures. The answers were correct, but the shown work was per his friggen textbook! Really pissed me off, they charged us a fortune for the book, its written by the prof, and apparently we were not supposed to use it.

1. Thank you, oj tak. They both seemed to sleep well overnight (with the thermostat cranked to 73 F., = 80 F. upstairs), but Mrs. T-B. says that Mini-B. is still under the (lousy) weather... and it was obvious to me that he has cabin fever, ufffffff man.

2. I might have fended it off, thank you, oj tak. However, Mrs. T-B. is no better (and i know this because she, a fledgling gringa, asked me for pills). I offered her two things: if she wants me to pick up dinner or anything from the supermarket this eve in this unfit-for-man-or-beast weather, I will, si man; and if she feels like dying, she's to call me with as much notice as possible so that I can schedule the rubias, whee man.

It is obviously cloudy enough outside that I can emerge at least briefly during non-nighttime hours, see man.

2. I didn't know that they had any, and if they did, I wouldn't pay for it and would make Mrs. T-B. put it back on the VS shelf, because it smells expensive, $i man.

We have covered this before, sigh man: Nothing spells "irrevocably married with manhood endangered" like finding one's male self standing in a crowded VS checkout line, holding a 5-for-$20 women's-panties special in each hand, hearing wife shout over the din "Hold our place in line! I'm coming back with more panties!"

I know many older women that still keep friend zoning the types of guys they say they want in favor of the bad boys. Then they're all upset to find out he's a jerk or seeing a half dozen other women. These women are past the procreation years, and still haven't learned. Which has actually turned many of these nice guys into the exact jerks they're attracted to, but get burned by. People are just plain nuts sometimes.

Where's the +1,000 button, man? In addition, some of these Americanas are even past the recreation years.

The kind of attitude that Brother C. has so succinctly nailed above explains (in large part) why I forswore trying to form relationships with Americanas on this date: 1 April 2006, no fooling man.
