Well, today (Saturday) is the 8th anniversary of having lost Papa T-B., and his namesake, Mini-B., is currently very sick. He's had a fruity cough with runny nose for the better part of 2 weeks. Mrs. T-B. took him to the doc today, and the doc prescribed him an inhaler-type thing but no real medicine. Now, he's running a fever of 102 to 103 F. Fortunately, the closest clinic had a cancellation for tomorrow at mid-morning.

I hope he'll get better really soon!

Poor Mini-B.

cool baths for 105 and up. Not for 102-103.......

I barely give my kid advil or tylenol at that temp....

as long as she's not lethargic....she's fine.

You hard ###, I definitely give something at that temp.

My daughter takes cold baths anyways, if it is even lukewarm she running screaming about how hot it is.

Thanksgiving shopping is done.

The Dane is having to work weekends through Christmas time, but at least it helps with the money a little.

1) Doesn't translate well. "Apple slices" is not quite what it is, it is like pancake balls that traditional have apple slices in them, but many times don't.

2) Sorry to hear about the loss of your father and the wee one being sick. You can also try cool/ cold baths. I had to do that once when my daughter's fever got high. It did seem to help.

1) I didn't know that pancakes had balls... genetic engineering, huh man?

2) Gracias, si ma'am. Mama T-B. was suffering today. There has never been a marriage of such true love. Mama T-B.'s only goal was to die to be with him, until Mini-B. came along. Now, Mama T-B. focuses on being the world's most doting "oldest first-time grandmother," whee and wee man.

Mini-B.'s self-broiling was down to 97.9 F at highest today (pending what Mrs. T-B. came up with this eve -- but she's in the other bedroom yakking in Spanish with one of her amigas, so I presume that Mini-B. is still better, si man).

2) It is slowly sinking into Mrs. T-B.'s newly-gringa brain that gringos show true love by either offering someone medicine or at least by insisting that they take it.

3) Mini-B. was nowhere near lethargic today, no man (personal experience, gee man).

4) Too conditioned to arising early for fishing, huh man? My fervent personal belief is that any hour of arising before noon should be outlawed, si man.

I hear also cooler towel on forehead helps with fever

Thank you, si ma'am. This is indeed what Mrs. T-B. was doing for several hours last night. I was in charge of replenishing the cold water in the large bowl that Mrs. T-B. amazingly managed not to spill in our bed.

Around here, the old saying "She can eat crackers in my bed anytime" has morphed into "What liquid shall be spilled or released into our bed tonight, prompting yet another premature warshing of the bed linens, huh man?"

1) Yah, I haven't slept well for months now.

2) I roam around hoping to walk into a wall and pass out.

1) I wish you somnia, zzz man.

2) Wait until you're older or have an inner-ear problem, and you'll do that without needing to hope to, see man.

lobotomy is the next step.

Speaking from personal experience, it doesn't help, no man.

Thanksgiving shopping is done.

Are you therefore ready for Viernes negro, huh ma'am?

Mrs. T-B. really wants to do it, but we don't see how we could avoid a mad Mini-B. if we awakened him at the necessary early hour, or how we could accomplish even a little of a planned agenda, no and sigh man...

Egad, man -- I just drank a whole quart bottle of Tropical Blend-flavored G2. That stuff's good and goes down so smoothly that I always end up drinking too much of it, pee man. The point is to keep enough of said stuff in the refrigerator so that it's there when I want & need it, see man.

Speaking of which:

I opened the refrigerator door this morning and was astonished to see a live rabbit inside. "What are you doing here?" I asked.

"This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?" asked the rabbit.

"Si, man," I replied.

"Well, I'm just westing," said the rabbit.

(Hiatus over) I have just finished de-dishwarshering all the dishes and especially the silverware on this Saturday-eve-into-Sunday morn, aarrrgh man. One subcurrent of marital discord has been our disparate preference in steak-knives, see man. Whereas I prefer serrated blades with skinny wooden handles, Mrs. T-B. is partial to straight blades with plastic handles or at least thick wooden handles, grrr man. Her partiality for and use of said-styled knives inevitably leads to overflow from, or at a minimum an extreme cramping in, the portion of the dishwarsher silverware-bin that I have designated for knives, see man. Having been single for many years between the two Mrs. T-Bs, I find myself in a semi- or more-times-weekly state of mental stress when the inevitable arises, sigh man.

The good news is that I have taken discreet steps to purge the offending utensils, slowly and over time, from the inventory, see man, and to replace them with slicers of more acceptability (the very best of same are to be found in the silverware offerings at the Salvation Army stores, si man). Nevertheless, Mrs. T-B. continues to use -- and most likely intentionally so -- the remaining stragglers of her preferred knife type, sigh man.

I de-distress myself by yelling like a loco, and pounding walls and large kitchen appliances with fist and elbow, and by clandestinely installing virus-infested rogue programs onto Mrs. T-B.'s laptop, see man. Either that or try to ignore it until the next dishwarshing, si man.

The point of all this, or not, is that the cat was jockeying for ministry (treats and brushing) both when I loaded the dishwarsher and unloaded it, miu man, and was visibly and vocally disappointed at the untoward delay. Her corpulent self is currently occupying my lap, thus causing me to have to type all this with one hand, carpal tunnel man.

I have spoken here, hear man.

We have almost forgotten our manners, sigh man, by delaying and almost omitting the GS report.

After waiting due time to evaluate Mini-B.'s morning health, we set out (with Mrs. T-B.'s permission and curfew of 2 p.m.) on errands that included GS forays. Perhaps because of the bastardly cold weather and the threat of rain, only 6 of the 8 GSs were apparent. We hereby report that nothing of the remotest interest was found or purchased.

However, we consigned much latent stuff to the consignment shop and retrieved a check in the amount of $22.91 therefrom for previous consignage, $i man. We donated the little remainder of said latent stuff to the donation place, then accomplished several other errands both mundane and sublime in nature.

After returning homewardly in homeward fashion, we supervised a highly active and interactive Mini-B. for 2.5 hours while Mrs. T-B. embarked on her own forays. She returned from Lowe's with, among other stuff, a highly rated radiational heater that is safe for use in the presence of offspring and pets, whee man. This shall go far in quelling the disparity between the upstairs and downstairs domestic temperatures, which can vary by at least 5 degrees F., freeze or sweat man. This noble act probably cancels out the steak-knife tension and keeps her shapely hindquarters from being shipped back to Ecu, si man.

We shall now go downstairs one final time this eve, to change the cat's water and almost certainly to perform daddy-to-cat ministry, then ascend to chambers and zzz, man.

Cold baths can induce shivering which makes the fever worse vs better. They should be lukewarm at coolest.

Ibuprofen is better than acetaminophen except in babies. You can give both with a 2 hr spread between if the fever is really high and you're having trouble reducing it. But only in children over the age of 2 or 3. Obviously aspirin is a huge no no.

Glad to know miniTB is feeling better though!
