You know that Tiff doesn't cook, right?

I could kill my Danish other half right now. I made dinner and it tastes good and he won't eat it because there are bacon bits and fat in the dumplings like there is supposed to be. He hates eating pieces of fat. Had I known this, I might not have married him. How do you not like to eat fat? It is so delicious. Anyways, dinner is delicious, but he isn't having any because I refuse to make him anything else. I'll just eat his tomorrow.

My wife loves the fat and gristle from meat animals, to the point of practically ignoring the meat part of meat animals. You should see the chicken bones when she is done eating chicken wings. Looks like they've been bleached and scoured in the desert for a millenia. I on the other hand prefer just the meaty section, bacon is an exception to this. So while shopping, my wife is always looking for cuts with the most amount of fat on them, while I would rather get the leaner cuts. So now when we cook up one these heavily fat encrusted pieces of meat animal, I cut off the fatty parts and put them on her plate, keeping the lean sections for myself.

Have you thought about having them custom made? I remember my dad and grandfather doing that.

They don't custom make ties at any garage sale I've ever been to.

I must now round up the fishing crew......

with the following messages...........

Bank exec- "#### Citibank, lets go fishin....."

Police Sergeant- "#### crime, lets go fishin......"

Attorney-"#### the court appearance, lets go fishin....."

Building super- "#### heat and hot water, lets go fishin....."

I dunno lol

But in a month, the 4 cameras on the property collected 5000 pictures of all sorts of animals doing all sorts of funky stuff....I even caught a fawn getting spooked by a bear....

a Minx, a fox....a bunch of jive turkeys.....

Your hunting success this season would make the locals jealous. The deer harvest has been very poor this year in this location. We're getting a bit of snow tonight though, so that might help the hunters that continue to go out, but not the ones that only do opening weekend.

You have a few other rather interesting pictures in that folder you put up the link to with the trail cam pics. Must be your junk to be organised folder, you might want to get Tiff to organize it for you.

Soon they'll be cutting holes in the ice to go fishing here.

when I delete the pics there, it gets deleted here as well.

My wife suddenly got a soft spot for deer when she say a deer that was killed by hunters. No amount of explaining what happens when the deer over populate and start starving in the winter made any difference. I believe she will never try venison now. My third world wife is starting to think like a first world woman.

Which I don't get at all. Perhaps she needs to see Food, Inc or Frankencow and see how livestock are mistreated. I'd rather a wild animal that was free its whole life than some animal that stood waist deep in its own ####### and could barely walk who probably thought the slaughtering round up was a god send.

That is pretty cool!

Maybe it is a woman thing, but I think it is pretty common. In general, I will eat some of the fat or skin that the Dane doesn't eat but he isn't doing it for health reasons (cue the Swedish Fish he had last night instead of dinner). I know in the Faroe Islands each person gets whale blubber and meat by law and it the blubber is considered to be like a treat.

They don't custom make ties at any garage sale I've ever been to.

Which is why I don't go to garage sales. I'd rather spend more money and get something I actually want rather than be sucked in by something's low price.

I see the decline in deer harvest in Minnesota in the past 10 years.....I wonder why that is.......

I'm surprised to see that NY far exceeds the MN numbers......

I believe the number of hunters is dropping in Minnesota. Or at least the number of hard core hunters. Used to be most hunters were out all season until they filled out their limit, or tags. Now I see more and more that only go out for opening weekend, or maybe the weekend after. They're not as serious about the hunt, and more into it for the social aspect of getting out with the buddies or family for opening weekend as a tradition. If they get something, then thats great, if not they don't bother going out again. But we still have the serious hunters that will take as much as they can get through the season, and take other people's kills to, just not as many of them.

it's much the same way in NY. But I do hear from the neighbors upstate that some poorer folks rely on the meat to supplement their diets. That's why I let the locals use my property too. In fact, I leave 1 of the ATVs and a generator with the old folks across the road in case they need it.

Me, I find it more restricting to hunt now that I have a family. The ole hunting get away has turned into "get the venison and go home" kinda trip........

She's actually seen many slaughtered animals back in her home country. Heck many people right in the city will raise a few pigs, goats or chickens in their patio or literally on the street in front of their home. Her own family has done this. She sees those animals as bred and raised just for meat. The deer she sees as innocent animals freely wandering the countryside and not as meat. She's always excited when she's wild deer somewhere, I think she's developed a love for their beauty, but for the domesticated animal she has just a love for their taste rofl.gif

It was more common in the past here to know of people that heavily relied on the hunt for meat. I don't hear about that as much any longer. Could be the crowd of people I hang with to. I do know some people that hunt and harvest heavily yet, but its more a love for the types of meat than the need.

Yes, for me it's the venison. Friends, family alike love it.

Now NY is starting to see a few feral swines also.....
