not my house not my rules. smile.png

speaking of whiskey...my parents would teach me about beer since I was a child, I could tell the difference between 10 and 12 percent alcohol when I was like 7. Can't do that anymore (beer yuck) but still tongue.png

Whose house then?

Lady of the house always gets to decide the temperature 'round here.

I baked cookies and I am seriously dreaming of a pretty stand mixer for a combined bday/xmas gift. The Dane got tools amounting to that in value for his birthday and as an early Christmas present......

it is my husband's parents house and he feels like i should be as little of a burden as possible on them aka...if i was not here then the temp would not matter hence we pretend i am not really here. I understand it...i dont have a job i cannot contribute except by cleaning and such so its fine.

in other news....thanksgiving is off for me it seems. actually this whole thing with thanksgiving is going to be interesting.....ugh

I love my kitchen Aid. My husband got it for me for our first Christmas before we got married. His co workers told him not to, that it was a big no no. I'm so happy he did not listen to them. Now if it was a broom well I probably would of hit him with it. But that mixer is so nice, I'm baking stuff like crazy.

I would love to have one too. My husband's mother has one so I use it for my baking and it is amazing. And now they have all these different colors !!!

Yeah, the living with parents sucks. I mean, we have our own house and still live with my mother so it can be difficult. We try and contribute - husband is residing her house and always fixing things and I've been painting, cleaning, and cooking.

What's up with Thanksgiving? We are actually hosting this year and I thought about doing it at our other house because we have two stoves and a big table and it is actually closer to the relatives who are coming. Hmmmm, but we did get rid of the sofa and armchairs a few weeks ago so there would just be the table to sit at.

I love my kitchen Aid. My husband got it for me for our first Christmas before we got married. His co workers told him not to, that it was a big no no. I'm so happy he did not listen to them. I've been hinting, no telling him, that it is what I want. I didn't think the stroking it at Williams Sonoma was enough of a clue so I explicitly told him to get it. I totally wouldn't be offended if he got me a Miele vacuum for a future Christmas either. Maybe I'm too practical, but I'd rather something I'm going to use all the time.

I would love to have one too. My husband's mother has one so I use it for my baking and it is amazing. And now they have all these different colors !!!

So, the consensus is the Kithenaid is good? I've been looking at I think the pink or teal version.

It is definitely worth every penny. Mine is just white, we didn't get the options of all the pretty colours. But the way colours in the kitchen can change I like the white .

kitchen aid definitely good. I make pizza dough in it, bread, cookies, cakes everything....worth the money for sure.

Thanksgiving...I am confused. You see it is a longer story but to make it shorter. I had a fight with my husband's brother and his wife...to me it was not a fight..I voiced a concern and they became offensive (they have 4 kids and decided that one of them was just too much to handle and moved the child here for the mother to take care of...mind you..she had a breakdown couple of months ago and a week into his living here she came to our room and said that she cannot handle the child and that they would not take him back and she just cannot handle it anymore..)...anyways...I sent them a message facebook message...said nothing bad just that she is going crazy and whether they thought of doing something else to change the situation that I worry for my husband's mother and dont think they should be using her as a way to handle their problems and I also said i was sorry that i am mingling into it but we got kind of pulled in since we live here and that it was not about me that i feel bad for the child....anyways so they went after me like dogs and i no longer responded.

Apparently the usual thanksgiving is happening (at my father in laws sister's house) but they were not invited because they have an issue with me (I was going to go regardless and just avoid them) and the mother decided to invite them here instead which means I cannot be part of the thanksgiving so I will either have to stay in the room or go out for a long walk....it will surely be interesting.

Sorry that was long. Bet you are sorry you asked. :D

Dang that is not good all around. I don't think I would hide out in the room, but I wouldn't want to be around them either. Yuk no win either way.

I just don't want to make it awkward and If I stay out it will be obviously and I am not good with people being nasty to me so if i have a choice..I will go out for a walk or stay in the room. Walk seems better.

Good to hear about the Kitchenaid.

I have no advice about the family, but IMO they shouldn't put you in that situation. Maybe they are hoping by inviting them over you will reconcile.

I wouldn't tell what I would do if I were you, but if I were like half me I'd rent a hotel room somewhere nice and make my husband pay for it. How awkward having to go out for a walk or whatever.

I'd be careful about disclosing too much about it, just in case someone decides to send it to them on FB.

Or maybe not, it did let us all see what an evil person my relative was.

I'm the same way. But going for a walk kinda sends the same message as staying in your room.

Family can suck at times.

Anyone of you used fatback before? I'm going to attempt to get it at the supermarket but I have a feeling it will not work.

Kroppkakor - they are like pork filled potato dumplings. I don't know if they have a name in Danish.

It seems from googling that I should be able to get away with just bacon.
