and the birthday is later in the month.

and happy VD to you also - please try to make a parade or rescue a homeless Vet for the day.

You are old enough to be my father!

That's old ;)

November 11th is actually a feast day in our religion to celebrate the Einherjar, the warriors who died and are brought to Valhalla. Same holiday essentially.

She Lives! She Lives !! Part IV is alive !!! oooooooooooh aaaaaaaaaaaaah !

Indeed, I do. wink.png Just busy.

I hope you get the job situation worked out soon.

I wish I could join a gym. The Dane has our only car during the day, but I guess walking will have to suit me fine.

Little One's birthday party today was nice! Pretty much her entire class showed up. heart.gif Such a change from being in Denmark for her.

I'm so happy your little girl is doing better here! So sweet. happy.png I really love going to the gym, but until recently I didn't have the time. It feels nice to be active again.

Oohpartiv, it's too cool that your husband is promoted!

Thanks Asia. smile.png Hubby is very excited. We're just trying to figure out the logistics of where it would be more expensive for him to travel the distance or for us to move down there. It's about an hour away, and we still have school and everything to factor into the equation. Stressful but exciting.

The family is fine. They live way south in the Philippines, so there was really no issues in their area, other than dark clouds, rain and windier than normal.

Yay, good to hear. It's heartbreaking to watch the news and see all the devastation. sad.png

My family always gets something for the old man who lives next door. He's a Vietnam vet. We baked him a cake this morning and gave it to him and he cried. cray5ol.gif It broke my heart.

Happy VD to all the veterans here! dancin5hr.gif

with over 1100 islands in the PI, you'd think there'd be a food cache and a fleet o boats to move the food, somewhere. Sure, it's a big f'ing typhoon, but ####### ? all folk are strung out, waiting for the next monthly remittance from an OFW ? grrr.

7013 Islands actually. the Philippine navy is not very big. Its not a matter of how many islands they have, its a matter of how poor a country it is, and how much corruption they have. Their ferries hauling people between islands could gang up and wipe out the navy.

They do have a food cache, its called NFA rice. Its used to put low cost rice all over the country so the poor don't go hungry. The infrastructure to get the amount of aid needed, to all the places its needed is being sorely strained right now. But it is coming. The marines arrival is going to do a world of good. They're already putting up lights at the airport so flights can come in at night.

I'm going to donate.

The Philippines is pro American.

I'd much rather see US dollars go there than Pakistan or elsewhere......

Mostly they're pro American. And I'd rather send aid there than Pakistan to, but I'm slightly biased.

There's talk we may have bases in the Philippines again.

My wife has been shedding a few tears watching the news. We have Philippines channels, so we're getting a bit more depth on whats going on than most Americans,

+1 for the cake to a veteran. I wish I could give more than one plus one for that.

Is he lonely or does he have a family?

His wife lives with him, but I think he cried more because he was touched that we remembered to do something for him, or maybe because we took time out of our day to actually make something for him instead of just buying it. I don't know exactly. I'm glad he liked it, though. luv.gif

I'm sure he was touched because you took some time to make something for him. I know I'd be touched no matter what, and I haven't been through what the veterans have been.

And that was a really nice thing to do! smile.png

The word "geezer" comes to mind :)

Except the old man ain't that much older than me :(

And one more time. The term "the old man" in the navy and marines are words of high regard....
