Sureshot..just checked ceac and the status update changed to todays date. I was thinking the same thing. Will check back friday.

Maybe they scheduled you. Or you just in limbo like me. I wish I knew what it meant, maybe they have us in queue for scheduling. I am hoping they schedule me by Friday this week. Tired of the waiting game now.

We can only pray. We know this much they touched our files. I believe we will have something by this friday.

Just picked up Packet 3 from the Panama embassy today, and the news is true! Panama is already asking for the DS-160 form instead of DS-156, DS-156K, & DS-230. Aarrgghh! And we had already filled out sample forms for those three so we would be ready with all the information. Hope the DS-160 is an easy form.

Question: my interview is already scheduled on oct.21, but i have not filled up the forms.... DS 156k doesn't exist anymore... what should i bring then? 156, 157, and DS230 only?

thanks

If you were in process at the embassy and scheduled before 10/07 then you are BAU.

Doesn't sound onerous for those who clearly fall on one side or the other of the cutoff date. But for those caught in the transition period, there can be a lot of confusion here.

I am not surprised since they did say they were transitioning from paper to electronic system.

I do recommend that anyone called on to fill an online form print it and take it to the interview, even if they tell you it is not necessary to do so. You never know, and it is always better to be prepared.

DS 160 is a much much easier form to fill out. You don't have to go back ten years to find employment and address history and a much more other stuff that really is insignificant. DS160 is what people fill out for tourist visa etc, so it's much much easier. I've filled it out twice before for friends tying to get a visitor's visa and am pretty much done completing the fiance's in preparation for his packet 3. I couldn't be more happier about this transition. I thought the old forms were so daunting! I, for one, am a very happy camper. Just wish CSC would hurry up and send my file to NVC already.

Department of State Transitions to DS-160 for K Visa Applications

Effective immediately, all K visa applicants are required to complete the DS-160 Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. The DS-160 replaces forms DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230.

For K visa cases already in process at a U.S. embassy or consulate, the DS-160 is not required when, prior to October 7, 2013, one of the following situations exist:

The K visa applicant is already scheduled for an interview.

The K visa applicant has already been interviewed and has been requested to submit additional documentation or is pending administrative processing.

The K visa applicant has already submitted a valid, signed, unexpired DS-156, DS-156K and/or DS-230 or received instructions to do so.

I wrote an email to the embassy on Tuesday, October 08, 2013 10:53 AM asking them between the D230 and DS260 which form i am suppose to complete and today i got a response.see below:

It's quite possible that every consulate will decide exactly when they will require the new forms.

*If you were informed before October 15, 2013, that the U.S. Embassy received your approved I-129F petition and you could schedule an interview, you may submit Forms DS-156, DS-156K and DS-230 instead of Form DS-160.
