I checked both the embassy instructions letter and the embassy website regarding the requirements for the K-1, DS-160 isn't listed anywhere - yet. I would follow the embassy instructions.

It would be nice if they switched over to the DS-160. It is only 3 1/2 pages long and my fiancée has already filled one out when she applied for a tourist visa. I hope they make the change soon.

K-1 Visa

Oct 1st, 2013 – Mailed in I-129F Package to Dallas Lockbox.

Oct 4th, 2013 – Package Delivered.

Oct 9th, 2013 - NOA1 Text and Email

Oct 15th, 2013 - NOA1 Hardcopy received in mail. Notice date on hardcopy says October 8th.

Nov 13th, 2013 - NOA2 - update on USCIS website

Dec 9th, 2013 - Petition received at NVC

Dec 11th, 2013 - Petition sent to Manila

Dec 19th, 2013 - Embassy receives petition

Dec 29th-Jan 8th-Our first New Year's together.

Feb 23rd- Fly to Manila to be with Ema for the interview.

Feb 27th, 2014 - Interview scheduled. We were APPROVED dancin5hr.gif

Feb 28th, 2014 - Ema does CFO- Passes with flying colors.

Mar 6th, 2014 - Visa in hand and ready to fly home.

Mar 14th, 2014 - POE Los Angeles

Apr 17th, 2014 - Our Wedding date. (L)

AOS

Sept 5th, 2014 - Mail package to Chicago

Sept 9th - Package Delivered

Sept 11th - NOA1 Texts and Emails.

Sept 17th - NOA1 Hardcopys received.

Sept 20th - Biometrics appointment letter received. Appointment for Oct 2nd.

Oct 2nd - Biometrics Done!

Nov 15th - EAD & AP approved and on the way!

No interview or interview wavier notice received

Jun 30th, 2015- Received welcome notice and approval.

July 23rd - Ema finally has her Green Card :dancing:

It's confusing that the USEM and DOS website are stating different things.

I just went ahead and filled out the DS160 anyway and got the barcode. I also printed and filled out all the documents requested on the Embassy letter anyway. At least I can provide them whatever the heck they ask for come interview time. The DS160 is pretty long and annoying, but its no biggie. Might as well do it anyway to be safe.

Yes better to be sure than sorry. I will do that too. :) didn't you have a hard time attaching the required picture sized in DS-160?

When is this form required to be filled out? We are not that far in our process, but we are waiting on our NOA1 hardcopy to be mailed, is this form to be filled out much later in the process???

09-27-13: Sent to Texas Lockbox

09-30-13: Recieved by USCIS - Confirmation sent by email

10-03-13: NOA1 from USCIS by email

10-15-13: NOA1 , hardcopy recieved

10-24-13: Alien registration nr was changed

11-12-13: NOA2 from USCIS by email

11-18-13: NOA2 , hardcopy recieved

12-04-13: Our case was shipped to NVC

12-10-13: NVC recieved

12-13-13: Got NVC case nr

12-18-13: Case sent to embassy

01-17-14: Medical exam.

01-23-14: Interview appt.

01-27-14: RFE sent

02-04-14: Approved

08-18-15 card was mailed to me

08-20-15 Received greencard in mail

Timeline for my EAD:

09-27-14: Sent to Chicago Lockbox

09-30-14: Recieved by USCIS - Confirmation sent by email

12-02-14: EAD approved

12-01-15: Biometrics appt.

12-01-15: Card in process and are being mailed

20-01-15: EAD card recieved in the mail

USEM has updated their instructions and it now says DS-160 only unless you qualify on one of the exemptions listed.

They are dated October 2013. Also, if you check out the the immigrant visa page for USEM you will see the notice for the DS-160 for K applicants at the bottom of the page. So unless you meet one of the exceptions listed, you need to do the DS-160.

Will do! I have a feeling you're right about them asking for the instructions based on the USEM letter, but I wanted to be safe regarding the DS160 anyway.

@Jen: I didn't have a hard time attaching a photo on the DS160 because the studio where I had my passport photos taken gave me a CD of the picture. I just uploaded it.
