How long does it take for passport with visa to be issued?

After the visa approval what is the process to get our passport back .Which center we should register so that we get passport as early as possible . If suppose i get approved for CR-1 visa from Mumbai consulate, Should i register the center in Mumbai besides the consulate office so that i can get the passport the same day or blue dart center in my city . The main aim is to get passport back as soon as possible . Does it take one week for passport to reach to us . I am confused about this process. Pls help.

Once NVC scheduled your interview, you need to create a profile and register passport pickup in your state. Here is a description that I got in email from Mumbai Embassy!!

Please note that beginning September 26, 2012, ALL visa applicants must create their profile by logging on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in and arrange for the delivery of their passport and visa BEFORE the interview. Under our new system, passports, visas, immigrant visa packets and other documents will be delivered to 33 document pick-up locations across India. Applicants are required to carry a print out of registration confirmation to present to the consulate on the day of the interview.

2013-01-25 - Sent I-130
2013-01-28 - NOA1 (case at MSC)
2013-05-22 - NOA2

NVC (92 days)
2013-07-02 - NVC received case
2013-07-02 - IIN assigned
2013-07-09 - DS3032 email sent
2013-07-15 - AOS bill invoiced and paid
2013-07-16 - AOS packet sent
2013-07-23 - DS3032 accepted
2013-07-24 - IV bill invoiced and paid
2013-07-24 - IV packet sent

2013-08-09 - AOS Packet Checklist

2013-08-14 - AOS Packet Checklist Received by NVC

2013-08-19 - IV Package Accepted

2013-09-11 - AOS Package accepted
2013-09-11 - Case complete

2013-09-18 - Case complete Status Email from NVC
2013-10-01 - Interview scheduled
