If the President was not going to spend more that the country takes in income, then you would be right, but he will. One Trillion dollars more or less, in order to get him and the Democrats through to the next election. The money is not spent until the Treasury cuts the check, and guess which branch of government overseas the Treasury?

The President spends only what Congress appropriates. Not a penny more. You know that.

He didn't tell you any such thing. Go back and read what I said. And he has a firm grasp on the fact that raising the debt ceiling does neither cost money nor does it raise the debt by even a single penny. That is a fact no matter how much and how long you deny it.

I can tell when you are flustered - you start talking about yourself in the third person.

Not true. Let us begin with just mandatory spending, over which Congress has no control, without changing the law, but somehow this President does, and did, 97 times without Congress in the case of Obamacare.

The President does not control mandatory spending. It's all done via legislation that Congress passed.

You keep saying that but that doesn't make it so.

Who has been carving out exemptions for various groups likely to support the Democrats in the next election? It was a Democrat law, written in a Democrat Senate by a Democrat Senator chairing a Democrat committee, passed with Democrat votes alone, and ratified without amendment under marshall law by a Democrat Speaker of the House and signed by a Democrat President. How convenient is it the President has the power to change the law without going back to Congress, written into the law "somewhere", but nobody seems to be able to find out where exactly.

I'm sorry. I thought we were talking about the ower of the purse here that lies solely with the Congress. Apparently we changed the discussion?

No-one else seems to be blind to the delay in the Employer mandate. Not even Jon Stewart.

Why do you seem to be?

That's not what we talked about. we talked about whether or not raising the debt ceiling increases the debt. I know it's late but do try to focus.

that's not quite fitting. it's more like raising the credit card limit on your teenager's credit card when she maxes out her credit limit every month. what could possibly go wrong?

I believe he said that she is more responsible if her card is maxed out and she raised her own limit in order to make the minimum payment.

But raising the limit to make the minimum payment does not in any increase her debt though and she can do it forever and forever with no limits and no consequences as long as she raises her own limit.

I LOVE lib....lib....uh liberal logic

Apparently it's you that needs to keep up. The post I quoted was in response to one mentioning that the President has amended the PPACA without consulting Congress. Seems a pretty logical progression really. ;)

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself
