Unfortunately, it was not. It's been six months since my NOA1. It's been the longest six months in my life.

I tell myself that if Britney can make it through 2007, I can make it through this long immigration process. LOL!

One more week went by...hopefully next week.

Hello All,

I have never posted on the forums before. So, I updated my timeline and I am going to share some of the bumps that I have been dealing with.

I got an RFE for I-864 and DS-260. For I 864 it was simply due to leaving a few boxes empty (make sure EVERY box is either filled out with info or N/A, do not leave anybox blank). For DS-260, my wife scanned her Birth certificate and police clearance then I printed them out and sent them. Unfortunately this is not something they accept. You must send orginal or certified copies. (You do not have to translate them as long as the documents are in english or in the same language where the visa interview will be held). In my case, I do not have to translate Arabic documents to English because the interview will be held in Lebanon where Arabic language is used.

Now I am waiting for a response on the I-864 that I sent to NVC last week. NVC received my I-864 checklist on 31-Mar-2014 (now waiting for approval). I will be sending Checklist for DS-260 next week as soon as I get original documents.

I just wanted to share my struggles with you all. I hope you do not have to deal with suck hickups.

Good luck,

I know it's hard to explain other people wt why we are not in the US yet :(...

Last week an acquaintance told me ( through Facebook) that she went to the US with her EU passport and then adjusted status, and everything took less than 3 months (from filing i-130 to getting a green card). A part of me was glad that she is with her husband and happy, but it upsets me that what she did was 'wrong' and the process was super easy for her...

During the interview she said that she went to visit her boyfriend an he proposed there and they decided to marry 'in a rush'....

I have heard similar cases before. She is lucky that she could get a green card in such a short time, but what she said to the interviewer was lies. We, who have been honest, have waited for getting a greencard for such a long time. Sometimes I feel life is not fair. But I believe that after this crazy visa process, we will be more happier than people who skipped the correct and honest process. We are strong:)

I hope next week will be our week! Come on NOA2!

I knew I should have stayed and adjusted, but I was too afraid of incurring the wrath of an angry immigration officer ;-;

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

We are approaching 7 months with the only contact from the USCIS being that we were transferred, and lo and behold we were transferred to Texas.

I really think we will be stuck there for at least another month, then add another 2 -3 months at the NVC, then another 1-2 months to get an appointment at the consulate.

All up we will be super lucky to have what should be a simple administrative task completed in a year.

How on earth did the USA put a man on the moon???

For I 864 it was simply due to leaving a few boxes empty (make sure EVERY box is either filled out with info or N/A, do not leave anybox blank).

Page 2 of the I-1864 Instructions states:

How to Fill Out Form I-864

3. Answer all questions fully and accurately. If an item is not applicable or the answer is "none," leave the space blank.

I'm not sure exactly what went on with your case, but i'm curious what you mean by stating that you got an RFE for "leaving a few boxes empty"

can you please be a little more specific about what exactly USCIS asked you for? perhaps you left a box blank that is in fact required. this does not mean that you need to write N/A or none in boxes that you are not required to fill in. in fact, doing so would go against the explicit instructions of the form.
