The weirdest thing just happened again with our case again.

March 29th: The first email we recieved from TSC was that we got an RFE.

March 31st: The second email from TSC was as follows:

Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity

On March 31, 2014, we mailed you a notice informing you that your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, was reopened. If you have not received the notice within 30 days of the date above, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

April 2nd: We got a third email from TSC, which is as follows:

Post Decision Activity

On April 2, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations.

We scheduled a callback from Tier 2, but Tier one already told us our case has been transferred to NVC and they no longer have jurisdiction over it. We sent a hell lot of evidence with our I130, so it was surprising to get an RFE in the first place! I guess they made a mistake sending the RFE and when they realized this, they re-opened our case, went through it again and approved us!! However, we are awaiting callback from Tier 2 to confirm our status...

I've got people in my life asking me why I'm still in the UK, like I'm doing it on purpose :P

That's funny! People ask me the same thing! LOL!

My friends usually know someone who got a Green Card within three months in the U.S. (Adjustment of Status) so they don't know why I'm still in Canada. I had to tell them that I couldn't adjust my status since I live outside of the U.S. so I had to submit a Consular Processing application that takes much longer. Well, much longer than I initially thought. :ranting:

I usually respond by explaining the entire process. This sends them into an irreversible confusion that prevents them from asking me again at any point in the future :)

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

I go through exact same convo every time I run into someone. After explaining the same situation as you did, the question I get asked is, "huh why didn't you just go to US first and filed Adjustment of Status"? Well, F**K me for doing things the right way, right?!

Edit: I just noticed new processing times as of Feb 28. VSC and NSC are at 5 months. While CSC is 3rd and TSC is slowest. What a joke!

I never thought I would see the day that I welcome somebody's attempt at small talk being a comment about the weather we've been having. Not a day goes by without at least 2 or 3 people asking me. And my poor wife has it even worse. It's like a soap opera over there. Why aren't you with your husband? Is he doing anything to get you with him?

I understand completely, my friends ask ever so often how is it going with your husband. The same answer all the time it feels like forever. Not to mention my mothers text asking me often is he coming in June or July? I always think to myself or at least stay positive to my mother in hopes she is having an intuition that I am unware of. Its hard to explain the USCIS process when it only makes me more anxious.

Same here. When did you file the service request? Have you got any response yet? They told us we will hear back something in 2 weeks. it's been more than 3 weeks and nothing yet.

I filed it just today. Guy said to call back after a month, if i dont see any changes to my case....

Haha, that's usually my response, too. Even after several explanations, my 88-year-old grandfather still asks me ¨But if you marry an American, aren't you automatically American, too?¨ which results in me looking like this:  Maybe it worked like that back in his day!

I actually used to think this  Or at least, I had no idea about visas and permanent residency permits at all. I grew up in an open-bordered EU! In a way, I'm glad I didn't know about all this until about 3 years ago. I would have spent our entire relationship trying to live up to the expectations of what USCIS considers a real relationship, and constantly collating a portfolio of us. I didn't even know that I could technically be denied entry to America for trying to visit a love interest. The things you learn...
