I know october filers are just at waiting stage.

This waiting time is killing me.....

I understand and appreciate the purpose that the immigration process serves and the reason why much time is given to it. And I accept the reality that the process is so drawn out in part because the USCIS and/or NVC are likely underfunded and therefore understaffed.

However, I'm growing increasingly dissatisfied with the way the case has been handled as far as stated time frames. The USCIS portion of it seemed slow enough, but every step of the NVC portion has taken significantly longer than what I was explicitly assured of by them.

That said, I wonder who I can appeal to that would result in the process speeding up or running more efficiently (if not for me then at least for future applicants)? Would it make any difference if I wrote a letter to my/a Congressman or Senator? Are there any more effective channels to reach out to? Would it help if I got a lawyer to interface with them? What approach would you recommend?

Lawyer can do absolutely nothing to speed things up and Congress has showed little to no interest in doing anything, much less making the immigration process run more efficiently. Write your letter to your Representative and Senators but don't expect much to come of it.

No IV invoice yet? I found someone(japanese blog) who payed AOS on May 27 could pay IV fee on July 2.

I hope you are the next! I paid AOS n sent DS261 on June6.

I was planning for an Oct interview (some of you were aghast!) and at this point, I don't know if we'll be back for Christmas

Many of us in this thread got dumped into nvc right when they started backlogging, big time.

Clearly this is just commiseration by me right mow and a friendly wave to my fellow Oct. Filers.

Don't feel so bad. I really thought I would be in the US by August! Like you, I don't think I will be back for Christmas either. Our first wedding anniversary is also coming up and I have no idea what to do to mark the occasion from 3000 miles away...

Hey guys,

We are in the same boat... waiting for the IV invoice. We have paid the AOS fee and submitted the DS-261 on May 31st. I called yesterday and they said it is taking 30 business days since submission of the DS-261, which puts us at July 15. Hopefully that's true. I want to pay that stinking bill! Hang in there everyone!

Idea: can you plan for a belated tropical vacation. Or very nice dinner somewhere? Like, use the day/time to plan something super extra nice for when you return? I know, not the same, but maybe it will diffuse the void :/

HI, we are new to the forum...I just have a questions. How long did everyone have to wait before they received notification that NVC has received their application? USCIS sent our application to them June 12 but i have not received ANY notification other than checking with the USCIS website.

NVC will not send you any notification so you have to call them to confirm if they have received your file.

You have to literally keep hitting redial until you get through. Then wait on hold for a good while. For me it's ranged from 15 to 45 minutes.
