Hi guys,

How did you all file the tax papers? Married/ seperately.

If so can it be filed online.

I am the beneficiary, my husband is going to do the tax thing, and I have no idea about that process.

I read some of the tax related posts saying to file married seperately and write "NRA" where it askes for ssn and itn#.

Correct me if im wrong.

( I do not a have a ssn or iitn)

I saw her update, and it confused me. She wrote, "It is expected that the NVC, which has already been unusually overburdened by a "bubble" of immigrant visa cases, will experience further delays for approximately two to three more months. .... Expect that cases currently at the NVC will take two to three times as long as they normally take at this stage of the process. "

(Bolding mine)

That worries me a bit. 2-3 times? How are you all interpreting that in terms of timelines?

Keep in mind that she is an immigration lawyer who has a vested interest in all of us getting nervous and hiring her (or another lawyer) to intercede on our behalf. She's probably one of the good ones, but still...

And the people on the phones are not the ones processing anything. Our calls may clog up the lines but that's all.

It does seem that things at NVC are going slower than they have in past years, but after what we've already been through, an extra month or so at NVC (divided up into 4 or so 1 week delays) "ain't nothin'!"

Woo hoo! Congrats to all the approvals!

I just wanted to update about the NVC...I just can't follow the May NVC thread so I thought I'd post on here. Once you get your case # and IIN # things move really fast so be ready. I was able to obtain the IIN on Monday and since then have been able to submit the DS 261 and the AOS fee already. I have to finish the AOS packet tonight so I can send it tomorrow. So all that's left for me after that will be the IV/DS 260 part.

Whoa! Lucky! I also got case number Monday but still can't log in! Did they just tell you that you had one? Or did they actually tell you it had been assigned that day?

Is your timeline updated?

HELLO AMBER.I THINK I AGREE WITH YOU REGARDING THE MAY NVC THREAD.THEY MOVE SO FAST.IF WE CAN CREATE OURS IT WILL BE HELPFUL.

Congrats on your approval!

Well, as far as NVC I WISH I had something to really fill in, but I was never notified by USCIS when they sent the case and I never heard from NVC as to when they received it.

I had no idea what was going on, so I just called NVC completely randomly about two weeks after we were approved (on 4/11) and they said they didn't have the case. Called randomly one week after on 5/2 and was able to get a case number...called again on 5/5 and got the IIN. Then was able to do the DS261 a day after and then the day after that the AOS fee. So all I can really say as far as timelines for NVC is once you get the case number and IIN it seems you can do all the online forms/payment within a few days. Only thing I am still waiting for is to be able to pay the IV fee.

Again, I don't know when after my approval on 4/11 the case was sent or when it was received by NVC, but it seems they assigned the case number and IIN right away once they my case. Apparently this isn't completely normal....it seems I was lucky or it was a direct result of filing the I-129F alongside the I-130, but who knows. The only thing I can really say for sure is that it has gone fast once I obtained the case number and IIN.

I suggest that you file a service request if you can. Fingers crossed!

They won't even allow to file a service request since they are still on Sep 30th. I feel like driving down there and sitting outside with a sign. :sleepy:

No, the spouse's signature is only required if it is a joint return (that is, if he selects 'married filing jointly'). If he files 'married filing separately' then your signature is not required :) He only has to write your name next to the filing status selection and write NRA where it asks for your SSN

Oh, and by the way, I just read that if you are changing your filing status you HAVE to file a paper return and electronic submissions won't be possible the first year. But you will be able to file electronically the following years

Anyone got approved today?

I hope TSC is doing something so we could get our approval and we can move on. My husband called few days ago and now we're waiting for "within 60 days" result.

I miss my husband every single day. :crying:

Yes, I have the right address, and it comes up in the payment portal with the right name and all... just not ready for processing. It usually takes a week or so, and I happened to call the very day they assigned the number. So I'm still holding out hope for being able to sign in tomorrow. Otherwise it'll be next week I guess.

Anyone got approved today?

I hope TSC is doing something so we could get our approval and we can move on. My husband called few days ago and now we're waiting for "within 60 days" result.

I miss my husband every single day. :crying:

This is getting ridiculous...

What did your husband get them to do, file a service request?
