Hi everyone! Received this email today:

Application Type: I130 , IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Your Case Status: Initial Review

On May 6, 2014, your Alien Registration Number was changed relating to your I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please check our website at www.uscis.gov for further updates on your case. Please wait until the end of normal processing time before calling customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for live assistance.

What does this mean? Approval in our near future?! Fingers crossed!

I got the exact same message in the mail back in February. Nothing has happened since ... but since your filing date was way before mine maybe that means there is some action. Let's hope so!!

I had one of those emails in late March I think....like the 24th? I can't remember the exact date. I got approved 4/11. I think it is a sign that they are working on your case! Hopefully you will see an approval quickly!

I just wanted to update about the NVC...I just can't follow the May NVC thread so I thought I'd post on here. Once you get your case # and IIN # things move really fast so be ready. I was able to obtain the IIN on Monday and since then have been able to submit the DS 261 and the AOS fee already. I have to finish the AOS packet tonight so I can send it tomorrow. So all that's left for me after that will be the IV/DS 260 part.

While I'm getting impatient for my case number so we can move ahead, I remind myself that at least we weren't left to rot forever in the unstaffed Overland Park office. Imagine if they just forgot about us... o-o

ROC from CR-1 visa (Green Card expiration date was Nov 24th 2016)

Link to the evidence I submitted. Be sure to send evidence spanning your entire marriage (especially for K-1) or as far back as you can. Just one or two bank statements will not cut it. I primarily focused on the two years of living here since I came in on a CR-1. If you don't have the fundamentals (i.e. joint accounts/policies), you can explain why in the covering letter. E.g. "While we do not have joint utilities, we both contribute to them from our joint bank account".

September 26th 2016: I-751 package sent to CSC

September 28th 2016: Package delivered
September 30th 2016: Check cashed
October 3rd 2016: NOA1 received with receipt date of 09/28/16
November 3rd 2016: Biometrics received with appointment date of 11/14/16.
November 14th 2016: Attended biometrics appointment
October 30th 2017: Infopass appointment to get I-551 stamp
February 26th 2018: I-751 case number (aka the NOA1 receipt number) becomes trackable
March 14th 2018: Submitted service request due to being outside of processing time.

March 15th 2018: ROC approved. 535 days (1 year, 5 months and 17 days)

March 29th 2018: Card being produced

April 4th 2018: Card mailed out

April 6th 2018: Card in hand. Has incorrect "resident since" date. Submitted service request on I-751 case (typographical error on permanent resident card) and an I-90 online.

April 2018 - August 7th 2018: Tons of service requests, emails and now senator involvement to get my corrected green card back because what the heck, USCIS. Also some time in May I sent a letter to Potomac telling them I want to withdraw my I-90 since CSC were handling it.

August 8th 2018: Card in production thanks to the direct involvement of Senator Sherrod Brown's team

August 13th 2018: Card mailed

August 15th 2018: Card in hand with correct date. :joy:

October 31st 2018: Potomac sends out a notice stating they have closed out my I-90 per my request. Yay for no duplicate card drama.

Congrats on your approval!

Well, as far as NVC I WISH I had something to really fill in, but I was never notified by USCIS when they sent the case and I never heard from NVC as to when they received it.

I had no idea what was going on, so I just called NVC completely randomly about two weeks after we were approved (on 4/11) and they said they didn't have the case. Called randomly one week after on 5/2 and was able to get a case number...called again on 5/5 and got the IIN. Then was able to do the DS261 a day after and then the day after that the AOS fee. So all I can really say as far as timelines for NVC is once you get the case number and IIN it seems you can do all the online forms/payment within a few days. Only thing I am still waiting for is to be able to pay the IV fee.

Again, I don't know when after my approval on 4/11 the case was sent or when it was received by NVC, but it seems they assigned the case number and IIN right away once they my case. Apparently this isn't completely normal....it seems I was lucky or it was a direct result of filing the I-129F alongside the I-130, but who knows. The only thing I can really say for sure is that it has gone fast once I obtained the case number and IIN.

We tried using the website to put in a request, they said the case was still within normal processing times so we could not do it.

I had my husband call and the person told him "nothing is wrong, we are working on the background check and you should hear something in 22 days" I wonder why he was so specific in the amount of days lol.

They are VERY slow moving.
