For those still waiting for approval, when you check the status of your case on the USCIS website does it say "Initial Review"? If so, when was the last time that information was updated? Mine says it was last updated on 23 October.

I ask this because from what I can figure my application has not been touched at all since it was submitted, is there a way of knowing if it has been assigned to an officer or is "moving"?

OUrs says "On the 29th of January an Alien no. was assigned."" that's the last time it was updated. I hope we get approve soon.

Hi Amberg,

Did ur case ship to NVC??? Did u call them?

I called them today and they have the case. They gave me my case number. I was approved on 4/11, so it took about 3 weeks for it to get there. I am guessing as I never got any notification from USCIS about the case shipping or anything, but it did arrived. They didn't have the IIN number yet though. The lady said maybe in a couple weeks for that number.

You already got a case number!? :wow: Most people have to wait for 1 month to get a case number from the date your case arrives at NVC. :clock:

However, you may be one of the very lucky ones since there was one person who got her case number on the date her case arrived at NVC. She applied for a K-3 visa. I'm assuming you also applied for a K-3 visa.

I wish I had applied for a K-3 visa! Oh, well. Too late. LOL!

Yes! The lady gave me the case number...but she said no IIN number yet, maybe in a couple weeks that I should be getting an email. Oh I totally didn't realize that was strange that I was able to get the number already! But you're right- I did apply for a K3 as well. Why do you think that makes a difference? Hmmm! Well good thing since I have heard its a bit of a wait to get an interview at the Cairo embassy, so if it's faster at the NVC I'll take it :)

I love the NVC hold message though- LOL- it's something like we'll be answering you call in a moment. After over 30 minutes of waiting I decided they were lying :P

Oh, maybe that's the case number for your K-3 visa, not for IR-1/CR-1 Visa if they haven't closed your K-3 visa application? :huh2:

You may want to post a message on the NVC Filers - May 2014 group to see if you have a case number for IR-1/CR-1 Visa. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/493903-nvc-filers-may-2014/

If you have a case number and IIN number, you can go ahead and start your NVC process. Most people have to wait for a month to get a case number. :clock:

It has to be for the 1R1/CR1, because when I called the lady asked for my USCIS case number and I gave her the one from the approved I 130 petition, not from the I-129F.

Also I filled the number the lady gave me into here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw== under "Immigrant Visa" heading and the case comes up. The K3 isn't an immigrant visa, so I am pretty sure it would not accept the number I have if it were for my K3 visa. Last time I called when they didn't have the case uploaded yet, the guy told me they'd close out the K3 when they got it (because the two cases were matched up).

But anyways, I still can't do anything because no IIN number yet! Is what the lady said that I should have that in a couple weeks accurate? Or should I ask on the NVC thread?

It sounds like there is a good chance that you got lucky and have the case number for IR-1/CR-1 Visa. However, as you mentioned, you're still waiting for an IIN. You may want to call them next week to see if they have an IIN for you. I thought they assigned both on the same day. Maybe your case is unique. :clock: I'm reading Salyin's NVC Process... http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

NVC has just received my case from NSC two days ago. I'll call them up next week to see if I'm also a lucky one with a case number.

We received the noa2 hard copy today. Our lawyer has said that we have to receive anothrr letter ( he did not mention it from where) within another week so im confused now.

Look at this Wiki though- http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/LingChe_NVC_ShortCut - it says the case number and IIN aren't always on the same day.

That your case needs to be manually uploaded- looks like that is what did not happen yet with me.

Also, was looking at the breakdown of the case number and it looks just as mine does: CRO2014621XXX (CRO for Cairo, 2014 for the year, etc.).

I hope you get lucky and get yours :)

Honestly with me, any small advance would be great because I have read that is can take up to 6 months to get an interview scheduled in Cairo and that some people can be in AP for up to 5 months after that. Now, that's really worst case because I have also read some people getting an interview in a 2 months and I doubt they'd have a reason to put my husband in AP since he already had a green card...but still. I was going to lose it when I read that info!

The lady that I talked to said they will send me an email about what I need to do next. Maybe they will send me a hard copy too, but I am not sure. She was basically like, we have your email and asked for my husband's email and said that is how we'll communicate with you. Hmmm...maybe you can ask your lawyer what he is talking about.

After my case was approved I did not get anything else in the mail other than the NOA2, nor did my online USCIS case status update about it going to NVC or anything. I just knew from reading the forums to start calling NVC to see if I can get the case number and IIN. So I did the other week and they didn't have my case at all. This Friday I was lucky and they had the case and case number for me.

Austin, just out of curiosity, how did you know that the NVC received your case? Did you just call randomly? My USCIS status never update that my case was shipped and I never got any notification from anywhere. I was just calling randomly on Friday- was that what you were doing?
