Zero tolerance policies cause this kind of problem. However, being fair it wasn't the fact that it was a box associated with fishing that was the problem, it was the fact that the box contained knives and knives are banned.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

This kid is a senior in high school -- I don't know if he's 17 or 18, but he's basically an adult at that age. If he didn't bring the knife into the school, and left it in a tackle box in his car, it's completely overkill to charge him on it.

I don't like how they have dogs sniffing around so they can try to find stuff in students' cars in the first place to be honest. Next thing you know they'll move on to mandatory TSA-esque pat-downs and random cavity searches.

What would Xenu do?

Wait until you run into state Fish and Game, or US Fish and Wildlife folks. If they see anything that looks like you have been hunting, or fishing, or you are coming from a location where people hunt or fish, legally or otherwise, they can stop and search your vehicle without a warrant.

I feel so lucky to have attended high school during an age where zero-tolerance not exist, and corporal(sp?) punishment was the standard.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Me also

It was very common for male students to have guns in their vehicles and almost everyone carried a Buck Knife in their pocket

The principal would smoke your behind if you acted stupid

We never had violence not once

I wonder what has changed

Oh wait guns are the problem LOL

Not in my high school. I even came to visit after I graduated, and the boy's dean confiscated the folding knife I had in my pocket before I even knew what he had done. He returned it when I was ready to leave campus.

We had corporal punishment after a fashion. Your choice, the paddle, or they called your parents. The boys dean was just as likely to take the parents to task during one of those conferences.

I did get in trouble in elementary school for having a nail in my pocket.
