POLICE: MAN CALLED TO REPORT GETTING STIFFED IN DRUG DEAL

An Iowa City man has been accused of calling the cops to say he got stiffed on a drug deal.

Police say Daniel P. Noehl Sr., 57, called Iowa City Police at 11:30 a.m. Sunday to report that he sold some of his prescription medication to a friend, but that friend had not paid him.

While en route to Noehl’s Dolphin Lake Point Enclave residence at 2401 Highway 6 East, Noehl called police another three or four times to see what was taking so long, according to police.

Upon arrival, Noehl told police he had given a friend three prescription pill bottles, roughly 230 pills total, with the agreement that he was to be paid $1.25 per pill, according to police.

Noehl said he planned to use the drug money for groceries and cigarettes, police say.

Noehl told police he didn’t know selling prescription medication was illegal or he would have sold them a long time ago when he was on drugs, police say.

Police say Noehl then admitted to smoking crack-cocaine as recently as Wednesday and showed police a metal crack pipe with burnt residue on it.

Noehl has been charged with prohibited acts, a serious misdemeanor and a simple misdemeanor count for possession of drug paraphernalia.

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
