Shira,

Just call the CITIC bank location next week to follow up on the passport.

As of today, ustraveldocs is still shows the same message as 11/4. "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery"

My mom has already picked up her passport.

I'm not sure if this is anything new, but I thought I'd try obtaining the passport status a "third" way, using the automatic email status request (you send an email to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com with the passport number in the subject line. And you receive an email back in about 15 seconds. When I did this, the email I got back said:

"The current status of your passport is Origination Scan."

I'm not sure if this is an inherently different status from "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery," but it sounds a little different. I'll continue to track this status, too. (And my wife will call CITIC bank starting next Monday.)

Origination Scan = CITIC Bank Courier has gotten it into their truck from Guangzhou IV mailroom.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Do you know whether passports are sent by air or by surface mail? And would you hazard a guess on the delivery time between Guangzhou and Chengdu?
