My Visa case still shows Administrative Processing, its been about 7 days since our interview approval. I would at least wish it would say Issued by now. Maybe I'm just impatient, but I have been waiting for almost a year for this, just like the rest of us.

I'm going to give it a few more days before I end up emailing the embassy requesting a status update. Its starting to worry me.

11/4 - passed interview
11/5 - CEAC status "Issued"
11/7 - CEAC status still "Issued"
11/7 - ustraveldocs status is "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery"
11/7 - Sent email to passportstatus@ustraveldocs.com with passport number in title: reply was "The current status of your passport is Origination Scan."

(The statuses from 11/7 continued as above until 11/12)

11/12 - received email from ustraveldocs. The English part said

"Your document(s) have been collected from the US Embassy/Consulate
The passport number being returned is xxxxxxx and the airway bill for tracking is xxxxxxxx"

But the Chinese part said that the passport is ready to be picked up!

Also on 11/12, the status on both ustraveldocs and the auto-email-reply from ustraveldocs said "Ready for pickup."

11/14 - Wife picked up passport from the bank.

Interesting note: When I paid the immigrant fee on the USCIS website, the site would NOT accept the A-number as written on the "Immigrant Date Summary." There were only 8 digits after the "A" and I had to add a leading 0 after the "A" to make the number "legal."

wots her 'home city' and why she choose chengdu for delivery city ?

She live in Mianyang, a couple hours north of Chengdu. The nearest CITIC location is in Chengdu, so there have been several two-hour train rides involved in this process. We'll be glad when it's over.

ah. got it. soon, soon !! one less thing ! FWIW, there are many pages attached to the outside of the 'do not open' visa packet. Do yourself (and her) a big favor - scan in each page, email to you.

na, for Elis, that's all you need. However, my wife scanned all that stuff in and sent it to me, that was only 1 page of it.

During our video chat just now, my wife showed me the "sealed" envelope.

How come one corner of the packet is open, with the documents sticking out? That seems very weird.

Also, my wife told me that the CITIC bank person who handed her the packet asked her why the package was so thin. Apparently, most of the visa packets she hands out are much thicker. Other than for a mother and children immigrating together, I don't know why packets would be much different in thickness.

is weird - but EP casefiles - the visa packet returned back, is very thin. I've seen some photos this year, and my wife's also.

The snip in the corner is normal - it allows CBP folk to review the file without opening it.

TBH, I'm glad it's all over and my wife has the IR-1 designation in her visa - we only have to mess with ELIS and that's it with USCIS, till she files for citizenship.
