Hello folks,

I am a newbie and want to thank everyone for all the help I have received thru other couples journeys. I have filed my K-1 visa for my Fiance in the Philippines and listed her 3 year old son on the K-1, we have received our hard copy of our first NOA. What else will I need or should have done prior? I have checked prior postings and I am being told that her 3 year son will be allowed if she gets her Visa and has completed all the necessary paperwork, forms, medical evals ect.

  • Should I have sent in his NOS Birth certificate with the K-1 application?
  • What forms will I need to submit only the k-2?
  • What fee's will need to be paid?
  • Should my Fiance bring her son to the interview once it is granted?
  • Will her son need the same medical examination as my Fiance prior to the interview?

Sorry for all the questions but i have not been able to find documentation on the step by steps procedures for bringing her son with us so we can keep the family together.

Newbie with sincerest regards for all the help

Steve

  • Should I have sent in his NOS Birth certificate with the K-1 application? No need to in the Petition Step, but the child will need to possess an official NSO one for the interview
  • What forms will I need to submit only the k-2? For the interview, the K2 will need all the same DS-Forms (except 156K) as the K1. Just follow the instructions on on the US Embassy's website
  • What fee's will need to be paid? You'll be paying for both a K1 and a K2 Interview. Once scheduled, you'll pay for both a K1 and K2 Medical Exam.
  • Should my Fiance bring her son to the interview once it is granted? If her son is to join and not follow later, you'll need to make two interview schedules. More than likely the child will be interviewed at the same time.
  • Will her son need the same medical examination as my Fiance prior to the interview? Yes.

Sorry for all the questions but i have not been able to find documentation on the step by steps procedures for bringing her son with us so we can keep the family together.

You are welcome. Post any questions you may have, that's what VJ is all about.

Not really sure what DS stands for, probably a designation for Department of State forms.

One more thing you should know on your K1 and K2 journey. Both will need the CFO sticker in their passports to leave the country. This a Philippine requirement not a US Visa requirement. The child may or may not need to attend a CFO seminar depending on age, but the mother must attend. Also depending on the mother's age there's the Parental Consent or Parental Advice to consider. Do some homework on the CFO requirements to leave the Philippines. Hope this helps.

For the visa application at the embassy the K-1 & K-2 complete most all the same process and forms. Everything is listed in the embassy instructions letter (linked below).

Fees are $240 for each.

Your fiancee will schedule the interview for her son at the same time as she does her scheduling online. Yes, her son has to be at the interview.

Yes to the medical as well.

- follow the flashing arrow below.
