NoA 2 Validity Date

Quick question on the NoA 2. Where it says Notice Type: Approval Notice, it says "Valid from 7/1/2013 to 10/31/2013."

We're still waiting on our interview date. What happens if this whole business passes 10/31/13? Do we have to contact someone to extend this?

The Embassy has the ability to re-validate the petition if an interview has not occurred by the expiration date. Re-validation of petitions is common and routine; plus, it requires no action on your part.

I know for London they want a current notarized letter of intent to marry. We haven't passed our date yet, but due to delays getting to NVC/etc it could happen. It's easy to get a letter notarized by my bank so I did that and sent it to him.

The OP's question was not about an updated letter of intent to marry, it was solely about the expiration date on the NOA2 which has nothing to do with an updated letter of intent. My answer to the OP was the Embassy has the ability to re-validate the petition if an interview has not taken place by the expiration date on the NOA2, I also correctly stated the re-validation of the petition by the Embassy requires no action on the part of the OP and I also correctly stated that re-validation of petitions is common and routine.

I guess I still don't understand your response concerning "no action on your part". I still read it to say/mean the embassy will revalidate automatically and the petitioner has to do nothing. So I wanted to clarify to London folks, the petitioner must take action or the visa will not be approved on interview day if the petition is expired (or close to it).

For London there is no updated letter of intent required unless the petition is about to expire. Then it must be a NOTARIZED letter of intent.

I guess I still don't understand your response concerning "no action on your part".

The "no action on your part" means the petitioner or beneficiary does not have to contact the Embassy in order to have them re-validate the petition in order for an interview take place. I see the updated letter of intent applying to all countries, not just the UK.

They will not approve at the interview if you are past that expiration date without a notarized letter from the USC. They will ask for a notarized letter be sent to them before they will approve and issue a visa.

A notarized letter of intent is not required for all countries. Juarez does not require new letters of intent at all for the interview, and the countries that do require them do not necessarily require them to be notarized.

If London requires the notarized letter of intent to re-validate the petition after it expires, then that is indeed a specific requirement for London.

Most consulates will automatically extend the validity of the approved petition, but I would still send the consulate an email about it to get confirmation that it will in fact be extended and you have that in writing. It is a simple thing to do to be pro-active about your case, rather than just do nothing and hope all is well.

Once the case is in NVC's and then the EMbassy's hands, that date is meaningless and there isn't anything one needs to do....I guess unless you're in London. For Moscow, nada.

Avery Cates. That letter is not just for a K3 visa. Read it again for the word fiancé. That letter is not a NOA2. It is the instruction letter from London (aka packet 3). Your timeline doesn't indicate you got packet 3. Did you? Have you had your medical?
