I want Colleges and Universities to treat everyone the exact same regardless of race.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

yawn, you quote a story from ONE school. Big deal. At least be honest with yourself.

One school with a legacy program. You know, kind of like almost all really good schools have?

You can't be completely unfunny and then ask people to laugh.

I think the thought for some that affirmative action could be working to benefit the white man is too tough a pill to swallow.

I don't like it for any race. I want true equality.

So then what about legacy programs for example? Since they are naturally biased in terms of race, should they be abolished? Or maybe something else should be done to compensate?

Do away with legacy programs too. What's wrong with equality?

I wouldn't argue with abolishing legacy programs.

ETA: Easier said than done though when daddy donates a huge part of the annual fund.

How do you treat a wheelbound person and someone who can walk through the front door exactly the same as if that equals fairness? Is putting a ramp for the wheelchair person showing favoritism?

In the same context, what's wrong with a college to consider race among other things when admitting students for the sake of diversity? You don't think they consider other factors?

Not only that, many of the Ivy League colleges are notorious for nepotism - how do you suppose Dubbya got into Yale?

Why do we "need" diversity?
