Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

A friend of mine just opened up a tutoring business (HS courses and SATs). He's raking it in. You wouldn't believe what parents are willing to pay to make sure their kid gets into a top school.

4.1 GPA?? Isn't the GPA based on a 4-point scale?

if you're in honor classes, it's a 5.0 scale

Ah - makes sense now.

It's easier for certain races.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

You mean like how it's easier for whites than for asians? Yup, I agree.

Why do people care so much? I don't get it.

To brag. Seriously, I think that's mostly it.

Statistics have shown that it isn't necessarily the students with the highest GPA's that end up being the most successful in college and later on in life. In the NBA (basketball), many times the top draft picks don't live up to their promise.

...and of course some of the most influential people throughout history were considered failures at one thing or another - like the story that Einstein flunked math and worked for years in patent office as a clerk.

Nice try, again. Are you serious?

In 1990, the federal Office of Civil Rights investigated Harvard University's admission office. It found that though Asian-Americans had on average higher grades and test scores, they were admitted at a lower rate than white students. Harvard justified this practice by appealing to its preferences for legacies and recruited athletes, which benefited whites more than Asians. The 2005 study by Princeton professors Thomas Espenshade and Chang Chung, cited in Li's complaint, also concluded that having preferences for legacies and athletes decreases the number of Asian-American applicants that a college admits.

While affirmative action may make things "easier" for certain minority groups, it has the opposite effects for others.

yawn, you quote a story from ONE school. Big deal. At least be honest with yourself.
