Our I 130 petitions were approved in March, but my husband is having difficulty securing employment from abroad. Is it possible if we contact NVC they will extend the deadline? From what Ive read on here, they discard approvals after a year

Just keep in contact with NVC to keep your petition alive. No they do not discard. If you let a year lapse no contact they will just close your case. If you paid fees and such after a year they will make you repay.

Have you already been processed through NVC?

I gather your husband is the USC? Can you get a co-sponsor so you can move forward?

No we haven't been processed at NVC stage , they just sent our files /applications to NVC after our I 130s were approved. We havent gone any further as we were waiting until my husband (yes he's the USC) had employment so we could continue forward. Do you mean they will make us pay the $400 for each application again if we go over the year? We don't have a co sponsor . Thanks for your help
