I still have yet to hear ANYTHING from the NVC. My sweetheart called me to say the CEAC website shows our case has been sent to the consulate.

So this is great news, but could I at least get an email? I thought I was supposed to get a hard copy in the mail too?

Some get a letter from NVC, some do not. What is important is that you have your Dept. of State (DOS) case file number? The DOS speaks about case file numbers, not USCIS WAC-style receipt numbers.

Be proactive, and start checking out the embassy info page and the RUB Regional Forum for information on the next steps.

Good luck.

Me thinks that folks going to be processed at the US embassy in Kiev, Ukraine will not have a "manila case number." oops8rh.gif

The US citizen petitioner will get a letter stating that the case has been forwarded and giving you a KEV number. The website is NOT official. When you have that number you can make a medical exam appointment. After the case arrives in Kiev it takes a couple weeks to get in the sysytem and then you can make an appointment.

Your "name" Russian for "Butterfly", actually a small, cute beloved butterfly. (I would transliterate it with an "i" instead of "y" but hey...that's what makes it fun!) Alla calls me that sometimes also. As long as she is saying "good words" I am happy.

Butterfly huh? I didn't know that. We've just gotten into the habit of calling each other pet names by adding ichka or ilka or ushka to just about any word (really, just about any word). So Baby turned into Babychka idea9dv.gif

By the way, the DOS told me that the NVC has our case, and gave me the case number. Then I called the NVC and they said it would be an undetermined length of time for processing.

I have yet to get any correspondence from anyone since NOA2, though the website now says it's sent to the consulate..I'm just glad it's not stuck at NVC!

Oh I see. Yes, those suffixes are "diminutives" It makes the word "small" or "cute". It is also used to itself denote a "baby". Adding it to the word for any animal means a "baby" of that animal. It is an affectionate way to use a word

Anyway "Babich" is butterfly. Babichka is a small, cute butterfly. But if you are prounouncing it "bay-bee-ichka" it is nothing, just a pet name. Just an aside. If you are her "butterfly" then she will refer to herself as your "Sve-TO-chek" (flower) You can take it from there. Nothing like being whispered sweet Russian words in the dark! Pet names or "short names2 are very common in Russian/Ukrainian culture. I have about a dozen for Alla and call her about everything BUT "Alla" If I do, she would think I was mad or something. Alis, Alisa, Alushya, Alitchka, Alicia, Solnyshka (sunshine) etc., etc. You will have fun with it.

When the NVC ACTUALLY sends the case to the consulate, you will get a letter saying so with your KEV number. They gave you the number over the phone and you can schedule the medical exam if you want using that number. The online updates are not official and rarely accurate.

I am waiting just like you guys are. I assume that my case has been received at the embassy in Kiev now, but how do I check? Where do you go on the CEAC website? Do I only need the NVC case number to check? Thanks.

Now the CEAC shows the docs are in KIEV. I still haven't recieved any notice.

She's going to call the consulate in the morning and schedule the interview.

I assume that you mean to use the following link:

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

I can select Nonimmigrant Visa (NIV), select "Ukraine", enter in my case #, but it says: "Invalid Application ID or Case Number.". If I select Immigrant Visa (IV), that doesn't work, either.

Yep just click on the immigrant visa application and type in the KEV number

I'd call the DOS on Monday and ask what's going on. They should be able to tell you what to do
