Regarding Administrative Processing

Hi all, I did a search on the forums regarding the dreaded AP message post interview.

"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days."

We had our interview last Wednesday - were told that the documents would be delivered- passport was kept, and no papers given to us--- and when we checked the CEAC site this morning this is what we are seeing. Now having read through the forums, I see a lot of - "This enters you into possibly months of waiting.". Or "This is a standard message any time they are working on your visa.". Message.

Can anyone verify which of those two is accurate? Just trying to figure out how we should be prepared.

(apologies if I missed an answer to this somewhere. I really did search).

Thanks!

It takes around 3-5 business days to receive it, check Immigration timelines for Russia on this site. May take longer if your fiancee lives far from Moscow.

That I understand of course. It is what we were told at the consulate. What is freaking me out is that yesterday it became 'created' and 'Administrative Processing' and seeing that around the forums sounds like a horror story...

Well, today is your fifth business day - have you checked her passport status at here http://cdn.ustraveldocs.com/ru/ru-niv-passportretrieve.asp ?

If it shows nothing yet, I would wait till the end of the day and send an email to the Embassy - consulmo@state.gov

They are very good at answering emails! :)

Good luck with receiving your visa!

Looks like I'll need to do that. It still shows as at the embassy. Thank you for the suggestions!

Our interview was Oct 4, we were told we were approved, but they needed to verify some information. Today still says "Administrative Processing", and ustraveldocs.com passport status says: "Your passport is still with post"

Of course I am aware that there is nothing to do but wait, and we were not asked for additional documents, and they were very impressed with the organization of documents we presented. However, I too would like a little insight on our current situation, if this is typical, I mean.

Yep. It's doubly irksome because Maria made a friend at the embassy while we waited and that girl already has hers listed as sent or issued. :( I'll keep you posted if we get any new news.

Hi everyone, We had our interview 2 weeks ago and we are instructed to get a CENOMAR at NSO Pasay, Philippines. We had the interview thursday and we also applied CENOMAR that day. The CENOMAR will be done after 3-4 days and the Embassy will get the files every friday. The friday which is the week after the interview is the day they will pick my CENOMAR. I noticed in CEAC that it is updated on the day they supposed to get the file.

Does it mean they already have it? if the day they'll get it is the day it is UPDATED in CEAC?

How long will I wait for my VISA?

Until now it is still Administrative Processing.

Thank you so much. I hope somebody will have an answer for this. God Bless.

Mathlover, unfortunately I'm not sure. This whole Administrative Processing thing is so confusing. It seems like there should be a different classification for temporary processing.

That said, I got an email back from the Embassy this morning. I guess everything is okay! :) :)

The visa has been approved , and will be printed shortly. We do not recommend to make any final arrangements beore the applicant has her passport with a visa in hand.

Sincerely,

According to my fiancee' the status changed to 'Ready' overnight, but was back to AP when I woke up (With a change to today's date). I've almost given up trying to understand what the changes mean :(. Of course we already did the interview and were told approved so I don't even know what this means:

Your case is open and ready for your interview, fingerprints, and required documents. If you have already had your interview, please check your status after two business days. If no interview was required, please check back in two business days for the status of your application.

Did you have already the "Ready" message after the interview? And then AP, then "Ready" and AP again?

Or did you go to AP, then "Ready" and AP?

If it's the second variation, I think (I did a search on VJ and we have the same status now :)) it will be issued in a couple days.

One final update, the status changed to Issued today. So it looks like the formula is AP-Ready-AP-Issued.

Or something....

Who knows?

Thanks all for the words of advice and encouragement!
